Mumabi Terror Attack Convict Headley: ISI-LeT Spy? Posted: 01 Jan 2011 09:41 AM PST David Coleman Headley the main accused in the 26/11 Mumbai terror attack was, according to recent reports an ISI-LeT spy.The propublica.org has revealed in their report that the Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence agency was playing a double game with the US as well as India and had hired Headley as a spy for them. The ongoing investigations regarding the the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks have come to the conclusion that the terror attack was the jointly collaborated plan of the Pakistani ISI & the Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorist group.About 166 people including many US & Israeli citizens, fell victim to this terror plot in 2008. According to the website of Propublica, both the nations have a detailed report running over 119 pages,on how Headley was sent to India as a spy to find targets mostly US & Israeli citizens in Mumbai and other cities. He was given money and proper training by the ISI before being sent here. As per the reports of the Indian interrogation a Pakistani Navy frogman was accomplice to the maritime attack on the commercial capital of India.Reports have also revealed that Headley’s Pakistani intelligence handler was mediating a decision to help the LeT in a erstwhile unheard of plot to attack a Danish newspaper as well. ironically as the ISI was busy plotting with the Lashkar-e-Toiba to massacre the Jews & Americans, the other side of the intelligence unit was also putting up a front of helping the US curb terrorist activities. ISI was doing it’s pseudo job of helping the CIA & US military in their anti-terrorist activities. Even the President Asif Ali Zardari had shown solidarity with the Americans saying they will help weed out all acts terrorism from Pakistan as well as Afghanistan. Pakistan meanwhile denies all links to the terrorist outfit Lashkar-e-Toiba & Pakistani officials have refuted the allegations calling them an ‘Indianised’ version of events targeted to defame Pakistan. An unnamed official said- “It is a stereotype, a Pakistan-specific version of an Indian interrogation. The Indian version is totally distorted and fabricated as there was no involvement of the ISI whatsoever. Nor did any serving official interact with Headley or any of the perpetrators.” But whether Pakistani officials are willing to accept it or not, the US is ready to believe Headley’s confessions especially regarding the foul play by ISI. There is reason enough for them to believe that the main handler of Headley who goes simply by the name of Major Iqbal could be an ISI officer. Meanwhile it’s alleged that the LeT is still intent on its purpose to attack the West. US authorities are trying their level best to rein in this terrorist outfit. The US government headed by Obama is specially unhappy with the things are turning out. Hopefully the evidence supplied by Headley would be put to good use and there wouldn’t be another instance of 26/11. |
