The 27-year-old has especially wished the presence of his co-stars Genelia, Sonam Kapoor, Deepika Padukone, Katrina Kaif and Kareena from the movies "Jaane Tu... Ya Jaane Na", "I Hate Luv Storys", "Break Ke Baad", and the upcoming "Mere Brother Ki Dulhan" and "Short Term Shaadi" respectively.

"Imran wanted to invite all the actresses who starred with him to join in on the most important day of his life. And the actresses are making extra efforts to be part of his big day. The women are really going out of their way to be a part of it," said a statement by his publicist.

In 'De Ghuma Ke', Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy score a hit with World Cup song

Posted: 03 Jan 2011 11:10 PM PST

In 'De Ghuma Ke', Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy score a hit with World Cup songNew Delhi, Jan 3 (IANS) The ICC World Cup song "De Ghuma Ke", a peppy foot-tapping number composed by Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy, has already become quite popular within barely two days of its release, judging from the many hits it has got on YouTube.

Many who have heard the number say it is notches above the Commonwealth Games anthem. Released on New Year's Day, the song has already got around 7,000 hits on YouTube.

Lyricist Manoj Yadav has peppered "De Ghuma Ke" with commonly used Hindi terms like, "aare paare" (this way or that), "guthi gutham" (fisticuffs), "juta hausla badla faisla" (buck up and change the game) and "jiyo khiladi wah re wah re".

The World Cup is starting Feb 19 and India is co-hosting the event along with Bangladesh and Sri Lanka. The song will be performed at the opening ceremony in Bangladesh.

"De Ghuma Ke" will also be dubbed in Bengali and Sinhalese.

"We are very proud that we got the opportunity to make this ICC World Cup song and along with O&M (Ogilvy and Mather) and our lyric writer Manoj Yadav, we composed the song. This is for three countries. It's going to be dubbed in two languages," Shankar, who has sung it with same 'josh' with Divya Kumar, told IANS.

"We were looking at various ideas to determine what direction we can take because we wanted to make a fun song, a dhamaal song on which people can dance, they can sing and we wanted to use more of a colloquial term, which was an idea that came in late. Initially, we were looking at a regular dance song and by chance we coined this phrase 'De Ghuma Ke'. Everyone got excited and said why not make a song around the phrase," said Shankar.

"'De ghumake' is a term used in gali cricket, regular cricket, even when Sachin Tendulkar hits a six, we use this term sitting in our houses. It's a very commonly used term in our country, so we used it. It's a fun song. We wanted the direction of the song to be slightly rural, slightly ethnic and just wanted it to be slightly rural and new," said Shankar, a great fan of Tendulkar, Anil Kumble and Rahul Dravid.

Shalini Kumar says she has fallen in love with the song ever since she heard it on YouTube. She and her friends feel that "De Ghuma Ke" is much better than the Commonwealth Games anthem, which "lacked punch". "'De Ghuma ke' is a fun number and it can be compared to Shakira's 'Waka Waka'," Kumar told IANS.

Shankar has composed hit numbers like "Desi Girl", "Koi kahe kehta rahe" and "Jhoom barabar jhoom barabar".

Aamir Khan can't have enough of Salman Khan

Posted: 03 Jan 2011 11:05 PM PST

Aamir Khan can't have enough of Salman KhanNew Delhi, Jan 3 (IANS) It seems Aamir Khan is quite fascinated with the idea of using fellow actor Salman Khan's style statements in his productions. Keeping up the trend, the Bollywood perfectionist has made visible references to the star in his upcoming movie "Dhobi Ghat".

It's believed that the hit song "Pappu can't dance saala" in Aamir's 2008 hit production "Jaane Tu...Ya Jaane Na" was a dig at Salman and his lifestyle. Then Aamir's small-budget satirical hit "Peepli Live" last year had an actor sporting the star's trademark bracelet with blue stone.

Now in his wife Kiran Rao's directorial debut "Dhobi Ghat", releasing Jan 14, Aamir strikes a hat-trick.

"Prateik Babbar's character in 'Dhobi Ghat' is shown to be a Salman Khan fan. Prateik is seen wearing the famous Salman Khan bracelet. He loves working out to build a body like Salman's and he wants to become an actor like him," read a statement from the film's publicist.

"Prateik's character hails from a different city and is a part-time dhobi, and a wannabe actor. He is into body-building and thinks Salman is a cool dude."

Also starring Aamir, Monica Dogra, Kriti Malhotra, Kitu Gidwani and Nafisa Khan, the movie revolves around four characters from different classes of society and how their lives are intertwined with each other.

'Patiala House' about getting second chance in life: Nikhil Advani

Posted: 03 Jan 2011 11:01 PM PST

'Patiala House' about getting second chance in life: Nikhil Advani New Delhi, Jan 3 (IANS) Bollywood director Nikhil Advani says his forthcoming Akshay Kumar-starrer "Patiala House" is about chasing one's dreams despite facing failures.

Inspired by the England cricket team's first Sikh player Monty Panesar, the movie stars Akshay as 34-year-old Parghat Singh Kahlon, a British citizen who sacrifices his dream of being a pace bowler for his autocratic father's ideals.

Life, however, takes a turn when he gets a second chance to see it getting fulfilled.

"The essence of 'Patiala House' is pursuing your dream when life gives you a second chance. In this pursuit, Akshay happens to be a cricketer, but he could've been a musician or a poet. It can be your story or mine," Advani said in a statement.

Also starring Anushka Sharma, Rishi Kapoor and Askhay's mother-in-law Dimple Kapadia, the movie hits the screens Feb 11.

"We feel that this is a film that every Indian will be able to identify with, as almost all Indians at some point have the experience of living in a joint family," said co-producers Mukesh Talreja and Bhushan Kumar.

Kiran Rao never thought of changing surname

Posted: 03 Jan 2011 10:56 PM PST

Kiran Rao never thought of changing surnameMumbai, Jan 3 (IANS) Unlike other star wives, Kiran Rao - the better half of superstar Aamir Khan - uses her maiden surname and says that the thought of changing her surname to Khan never occurred to her or to Aamir.

"I've grown with my name and have had it for so many years. I have always wondered how people change their names. I'm quite comfortable with Rao and even Aamir is, he never asked me to change my surname," Kiran told reporters here

"I don't mind calling myself Mrs. Khan but its definitely nicer to be called what I have been referred to for all these years," she added.

Kiran, who was at an event to launch a new promo of her forthcoming directorial debut "Dhobi Ghat", also revealed that she is a fan of Salman Khan and initially had wanted a special appearance by the actor in her film.

"In the film, Prateik's character is someone who wants to be an actor and is a huge fan of Salman Khan, so initially when I was writing the film, I had thought I'll ask Salman to make a guest appearance but then that part didn't fit in the film at all, so we dropped it.

"I myself like Salman a lot and this is my tribute to him. Since we have shown that Prateik's character has his (Salman's) posters in his room and wears a bracelet which is quite similar to the one Slaman wears in real life," she said.

"Dhobi Ghat", slated for a Dec 21 release, also stars Aamir and is the story of four individuals and how their lives are intertwined with each other.

The unidentified male followed the 43-year-old beauty along carriages in the train, but police managed to stop him from getting too close to her by halting him with pepper spray.

"The man became verbally abusive to rail staff when he was asked to produce a ticket. British Transport Police attended and the man became violent and assaulted an officer and was arrested," contactmusic.com quoted a police official as saying.

"Officers were forced to use capture spray as the man resisted arrest."

Pamela who was playing the Genie in the pantomime version of "Aladdin" at Liverpool's empire theatre was heading back to London.

"A load of them jumped on him and spayed him before hauling him off by his arms and legs. She was shaken up, but glad he was taken away before anything happened," said a source.

It's daughter over work for Halle Berry!

Posted: 03 Jan 2011 10:43 PM PST

It's daughter over work for Halle Berry! London, Jan 4 (IANS) Oscar-winning actress Halle Berry's focus is completely on her two-year-old daughter Nahla now, and says she could even quit her career for her sake.

"Children shift your priorities and now I have a greater purpose for being here. I love making movies but I would give it all up to be with my daughter if I had to because she's the love of my life," Berry has been quoted as saying by femalefirst.co.uk.

The actress says she has seen a change in herself ever since she had her daughter with former boyfriend Gabriel Aubry.

"She's made me a better person because everything I do and say, everything I want and don't want, I think first, 'Will this be best for her?' When you have children you get to see things all over again. So I've never laughed as hard, I've never done more silly things, and I go to great lengths to make her laugh. She's awakened a childlike side of me," she added.

The 44-year-old beauty, who is currently dating singer Kylie Minogue's ex, actor Oliver Martinez, also admitted Nahla has influenced her taste in men.

"Every choice I make now, and that includes who I choose to spend personal time with as a partner, is not just about me any more, it's about what's best for her."

Berry says life has never been better for her.

"I am just a girl who met a boy; a girl who liked a boy; a boy liked the girl and then that's what happened. I've wanted this for so long and I feel happier than ever before. I'm happy and fulfilled and I'm in a really good space in my life. I've survived many highs and many lows and I think I have it all in perspective now - never get too high and never get too low."

Vidya Balan says Delhi people don't stop to watch film shooting

Posted: 03 Jan 2011 10:34 PM PST

Vidya Balan says Delhi people don't stop to watch film shootingNew Delhi, Jan 4 (IANS) Vidya Balan has discovered a new side to Delhi. During her extensive shoot in the capital for "No One Killed Jessica", the Bollywood star walked through crowded streets and markets, even in old Delhi, and was quite surprised to find that people did not stop to watch the shooting. Delhiwallahs are as busy as Mumbaikars, the actress said.

"I always thought Delhi was a bit more relaxed than Mumbai where nobody walks aaram se (in a relaxed way). But through my walks in Delhi during the shoot of 'No One Killed Jessica', I realised that people don't have time to look at you. Life is as fast-paced here as in Mumbai," Vidya told IANS.

The 32-year-old essays the role of Sabrina Lall in the film, based on the murder case of model Jessica Lall, who was shot dead by Manu Sharma in 1999. For many scenes, Vidya had to shoot in perennially crowded areas like Connaught Place and Bhikaji Cama Place in the capital, but says she was surprised that no one waited to see the shooting, unlike earlier times.

"I give complete leeway to the fact that I was dressed differently - very plain and simply. I saw a mad rush of people in CP and Bhikaji Cama, but people didn't have time to stop and look at us. I had always heard that Mumbai is more used to stars and Delhi isn't used to stars, but even here, no one cared! This is one new side of Delhi that I got to explore," she added.

Vidya spent a-month-and-a-half shooting in Delhi for the Rajkumar Gupta film, and says the experience was heart-warming. The film releases Friday.

"I actually walked through the streets of Delhi for the film. It's been a different and heart-warming experience because it wasn't like just shooting in one location. I had to walk through streets wearing absolutely plain clothes and shoot with hidden cameras to look like one of the people in the crowd.

"I won't be able to specify the streets I traversed, but I know I have been through both - Puraani Dilli and New Delhi. I have really explored Delhi like I could never have done alone and I don't think any Delhiite has explored Delhi the way I did during this shoot," she said, sounding overwhelmed.

The actress who hails from Tamil Nadu loves Delhi's winter.

"It always feels so good to be back in Delhi, especially at this time of the year. It's so charming... we don't have this kind of weather in Mumbai. The streets are so much calmer during these days than the rest of the year. So I really like it."
