Automobile manufacturer Mahindra, has launched a utility truck Genio for the Indian market. The truck weighs 1.2 tones and costs Rs. 4. 99 lakhs.

According to the company president, more models in the Genio series will be released this year. The engine and features of the truck are very much similar to a normal car. "In keeping with our endeavor of offering first of its kind world class products, we have launched the Genio today. It is also a result of extensive consumer insight which captured the latent and expressed needs of the customer. The Genio is an ideal vehicle for businessmen, traders and SMEs. I am confident that it would be nothing less than a Game Changer for the pickup segment in times to come," Dr. Pawan Goenka, President, Mahindra and Mahindra said.

Genio has been designed exclusively by Mahindra and so far Rs. 220 to 225 crores, have been spent in its designing and manufacturing. Mahindra has hopes with Genio to pick up the market.

Genio will be available in four colors, marvel granite, diamond white, silver shine and skyline blue. The truck will be marketed with 70 dealers across the country from February.

Omesh Sethi resigns from Ranbaxy as CFO

The President and Chief Financial officer of India's biggest pharmaceutical company, Ranbaxy, Omesh Sethi has resigned from his post. Sethi's resignation took effect from 25th January 2011 onwards.

The reason for Sethi's resignation from the company is yet to be known. As soon as the resignation took effect, Ranbaxy Laboratories told the news to the Bombay stock exchange.

And as soon as the news spread, the stocks of the company fell at the market. The new CFO of Ranbaxy Laboratories will be declared soon.

In the year 2010, the Managing Director and Chief Executive officer of the company had also quit his post due to unknown reasons. Ranbaxy Laboratories was incorporated in the year 1961 and became a public company in 1973. In 2008, a Japanese pharmaceutical company Daiichi Sankyo, was powered with majority of its control. Ranbaxy was named after the first owners of the company, Ranbir and Gurbax, so it was named Ranbaxy.
