Priyanka Chopra owns nine flats in Mumbai: IT officials Posted: 27 Jan 2011 02:07 AM PST After the IT raids at the residences of the Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra and Katrina Kaif, the officials revealed that, Priyanka owns nine flats in Mumbai, India. Sources have also said that, the actress has also invested in real estate also. The actress has five flats in Versova area in Mumbai and has converted three of them in to one, plus the other two. In addition to that, she has given on rent three flats and a penthouse. According to sources, Katrina had an unaccounted wealth in the form of jewellery worth Rs 6 crores. The IT officials raided 12 sites belonging to the actresses on 24th of January. The two actress, including photographer Atul Kasbekar, were under suspicion of tax evasion. The officials after the raid had seized the lockers and some important documents. Sources had also said that, the officials had also raided the residence of the staff members of the offices of the actresses. |
Sonawane murder: thousands of officers shut work Posted: 27 Jan 2011 01:45 AM PST After the Additional District Collector Yeshwant Sonawane was brutally killed by the oil mafia people, more than 80,000 government employees stopped their work. Sonawane was set ablaze by the oil mafia members. “We have not announced the protest as a strike but we are shunning work to register our protest against this gruesome act which has shaken the government employees,” Ravindra Dongade, the president of Maharashtra Gazetted officers said. Dongade also added that, they have planned for morchas (protests) to show their anger over the killing. A memorandum against the incident will be submitted by the colleagues, after they meet the district collector and regional commissioners. The Shiv Sena party has called for a state of closure (bandh) in Nashik on Thursday to protest against the killing. Dongade also said that, the officers are in a state of shock after the incident and will be participating in the protest against the killing. Protests and rallies will be organized across the state. |

Cricket World Cup 2011 Preview Posted: 26 Jan 2011 04:00 AM PST Preview of World Cup 2011 The cricket World Cup 2011 will be held in the Indian sub-continent, with India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh as the hosts of the tournament. It will be played from February 19 and will have 14 teams try and win the crown. The 14 nations will be divided into two groups of seven sides each with each of the seven teams playing each other in a round-robin league. The top four in the round-robin from each group will qualify for the quarter-finals and this will be followed by the semi-finals and the final. There will be a total of 49 games in the tournament and all the live cricket will be brought to the world by the ESPN-Star network which had won the rights to show the tournament live. In the Group A of the tournament, there are Pakistan, Sri Lanka, New Zealand, Australia, Zimbabwe, Canada and Kenya. In the other group, the hosts India and Bangladesh will be present along with the likes of West Indies, England, South Africa, Netherlands and Ireland. Australia have won the last three editions of the tournament, but it will be a surprise if the side goes on to win the World Cup. |
