‘Tejas’ India’s first indegineous jet handed over to IAF Posted: 10 Jan 2011 01:54 AM PST With India approaching towards self sufficiency, the nation's first self produced, supersonic fighter jet and Light Combat Aircraft, Tejas was proudly given to the Indian Air Force. 'Tejas' was handed over by the Defence minister A K Antony. According to sources, the LCA was developed for nearly 30 years, and its development is no less than an achievement for the nations as well as the Indian Air Force. After the Initial Operational Clearance the fighter has to go through its Final Operational Clearance to be in operational service. The final Operational service is likely to take place by the end of 2012. The LCA has been successfully designed and completed by the Defense Research and Development Agency and Hindustan Aeronautics Limited. The project was initiated in the year 1983 with a Rs 560 crore budget. The design of the LCA had been launched in the year 1985 by the Aeronautical Development Agency and was named 'Tejas' in the year 2004. |
Saurav Ganguly likely to have a role in KKR Posted: 10 Jan 2011 01:17 AM PST Bollywood super star and the owner of the Indian Premier League team Kolkata Knight Riders, Shahrukh Khan said on Monday that he would attempt to find a role for Saurav Ganguly in his team. Former Indian Skipper Saurav Ganguly in the two day auction if IPL remained unsold. “I would love it, I would love Sourav to be an integral part. You don’t have a team in Kolkata without him. So, I will speak to Dada when I get back,” Shah Rukh said. Ganguly was disappointed after none of the 10 IPL teams expressed interest in him. On Sunday some of the fans of Ganguly had burnt posters and replicas of Shahrukh on the streets of Kolkata. The fans were apparently angry as Dada was not taken in the team. Saurav had represented the Kolkata Knigt riders in the last season. However Shahrukh remained silent and refused to comment on the reason Ganguly was not selected by any of the team owners. The actor added that none of the owners can really comment on the non selection of the player. |
