GS WEBZONE: “Kannada Sahitya Sammelana 77th conference to be held at Bengaluru” plus 3 more

The Indian cosmopolitan city of Bengaluru in the state of Karnataka, India, will host the Akhila Bharata Kannada Sahitya Sammelana, a literary fest on 4th February 2011. This is the fourth time the city is hosting the literary fest.

The Kannada Sahitya Parishad promotes the language of Kannada and it’s culture by means of publishing books, conducting research programs and organizing seminars with poets and writers. According to K Y Narayanaswamy, a Kannada professor in the Government Science College, the Kannada Sahitya Parishat has been successful in keeping alive the spirit of Kannada in the state.

On the occasion of the 77th Kannada Sahitya Sammelana, the Bangaloreans will be given a free ride in the BMTC buses in the city. Participants of the conference have huge expectations from the event and a huge crowd is also expected.

Participants, who get them registered under the committee, will be allowed free transport to and from the venue. However, they have to produce the badge issued after the registration.

WBUT odd sem results 2010-2011 announced

The WBUT results of the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th semester examinations of the year 2010-2011, have been declared by the West Bengal University of Technology. Candidates can access their results from the official website at www.wbut.net.

Students have to enter their respective roll numbers or registration numbers in the results section of the website to download the results. Due to excessive web traffic, the download process can take some time.

It is advised to have patience, while accessing the results.

The WBUT is a public university and is situated in the capital city of Kolkata in West Bengal, India. The university provides programs in the fields like technology, science and management.

The WBUT was established by the government of West Bengal in the year 1998. The university offers degree courses as well as advanced courses in management, paramedical and other professional fields.

launched a paperless newspape,r The Daily, for iPad devices on
February 2, 2011.

The iPad-only daily "paper" is a joint venture between Apple and News Corporation. Yes, it is a serious newspaper with a correspondent in Cairo, Egypt covering the civil unrest for The Daily.

A subscription is just $0.99 per week or a discounted $39.99 per year right from Apple's App Store.

Unlike a paper news daily, The Daily features video and even 360-degree pictures.

Mobile Beat reveals some of the costs it takes to
help develop and then run The Daily: Murdoch said he'll be able to
determine if The Daily is a success once he sells millions (big
surprise). He said that News Corp. has spent $30 million on the project so far, and it will run at a cost of $500,000 weekly.

Engadget tells us: The Daily also includes
audio versions, with professional voiceover so you won’t have to worry
about GPS voice, plus video overviews of all the content if you just
don’t have time for reading or listening.

Another feature you will definitely not find anywhere else is voice
versions. Not that annoying text to voice converter, but a real, live
person actually reading the article.

You will be able to share articles with other iPad users and can even
share on a limited scale with non-iPad users through Facebook and
Twitter.

Popular South Indian actress Navneet Kaur tied the knot to Maharastra politician, Twenty-Eight-year old MLA Ravi Rana in a mass wedding ceremony which was held in Amaravathi at Vidharbha in Maharastra State on 2nd February 2011.

The cost of the mass marriage is said to be around 7 Crore Indian rupees, which was borne by Ravi Rana.

Maharastra CM Chavan along with other Ministers from the state Narayan Rane, Ramkrishna Patil, Yoga Guru Ramdev Baba attended the mammoth ceremony which was witnessed by lakhs of people.

Bollywood Superstar Amitabh Bachan and actors Vivek Oberoi, Salman Khan, Sanjay Dutt and actresses Priyanka Chopra, Kangana Ranaut attended the marriage ceremony. Watch videos.

According to the Organizers around 3612 couples participated in the mass marriage, of which 900 were Buddhist, 600 were tribal, 350 were Muslims, 150 physically handicapped couples and 54 couples were visually impaired.
