The annual pilgrimage to the south Kashmir Himalayas have begun on both the routes of Pahalgam and Baltal in the valley on Wednesday morning for the Amarnath Shrine. The commencement of the pilgrimage was marked with the Governor of Jammu and Kashmir NN Vohra performing prayers at the shrine.

Vohra was accompanied by his wife Usha Vohra and the chief executive officer of the Shri Amarnath Shrine Board R K Goyal. The official spokes person of the Board had said that the governor had prayed for peace, harmony, progress and prosperity in the state.

A few number of pilgrims were also present while the Governor had offered prayers. Apart from offering prayers, Vohra had also reviewed the over all arrangements that were made for the pilgrims. The Governor had expressed that he was satisfied with the arrangements.

The governor had also expressed his appreciation towards the support from the Army, state government, state police, central paramilitary forces as well as other agencies for the pilgrimage. Moreover, Vohra also stressed in the effective supervision and monitoring for the smooth conduct of the pilgrimage.
