AIIMS doctors announce indefinite strike for firing of innocent colleague Posted: 12 Jul 2011 03:04 AM PDT Doctors at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) called in for an indefinite strike, after the authorities did not take back one of their colleagues. The former neuro surgeon was alleged that he had harassed an 8 year old boy, but was later cleared of the charges. The physicians have demanded to restore the surgeon back to his job. More than 200 physicians comprising of AIIMS staff members, medical students and Karamachari Union had flocked in front of the office of the AIIMS Director RC Deka. The protestors are demanding to reinstate Dr. Shejoy P Joshua. The neuro surgeon was fired by the authorities of the institute on 3rd February 2011, after the relatives of a patient under his cure had complained that he was molested in the physician's room. On the other hand the investigations of the police had found that there were many ambiguities in the allegations on the surgeon. Despite the fact the authorities had decided not to take back Dr. Joshua. |
Cabinet reshuffling done, no changes in the major ministries Posted: 12 Jul 2011 12:00 AM PDT The reshuffling of the Cabinet has finally been done by the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. After the reshuffle, Dinesh Trivedi and Jairam Ramesh have been included in the core team of the Prime Minister. Trivedi has been handed over the responsibility of the Railways, while Jairam is the new rural development minister. The Cabinet also includes Kishore Chandra Deo with the tribal affairs ministry and BP Verma with the responsibility of the steel ministry. No changes have been reported in the major ministries like that of external affairs, defense, home and finance. In place of Veerappa Moily, Salman Khurshid has been made the new law minister, while Moily has been shifted to the corporate affairs. Mukul Roy has been retained for the shipping ministry, but has been taken out of the railways portfolio. The Cabinet also includes new faces like Gurudas Kamat and Srikant Jena. Meanwhile, Murli Deora and Dayanidhi Maran have forwarded their resignations to the President for acceptance. |
AirAsia announces low fare cost package ‘A Big Thank You Sale’ Posted: 11 Jul 2011 10:54 PM PDT Malaysian low cost airline, AirAsia Berhad is now offering another low fare package for the promotion of the airline. The airline is now offering the customers low fares to the various domestic as well as regional destinations. According to the press release, AirAsia has called the promotion as 'A Big Thank You Sale'. The guests were offered low fares to the destinations from Kuala Lumpur to Penang, Kota Kinabalu, Langkawi, Sibu, Sandakan, Bangkok, Phuket and Hat Yai. Flights were also offered from AirAsia's East Malasian hub, Kota Kinabalu to Clark. The airline said that the promotion period from 12 am today to 17th July. The offer would be for the travel period of between February 6th to June 20 in 2012. Central Excise officer arrested for accepting bribe in India Posted: 11 Jul 2011 04:32 PM PDT An inspector from the Indian central excise department was recently arrested, after he was found guilty of accepting a bribe of Rs. 15,000. Ajay Pratap Singh, was allegedly accepting a bribe from a businessman in Kochi, India. Singh was caught accepting bribe on Thursday and the report of his arrest was given by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Friday. The CBI had informed that the culprit had demanded Rs 1 lakh from the businessman for the settlement of the service tax returns. But since the complainant could not arrange the amount of Rs. 1 lakh immediately, the officer had bargained with the businessman for Rs. 15,000 as the first installment. The department of central excise is a government department which is administered by the Central board of Excise and Customs. The Board is a national agency which is responsible for the administering the Customs and Excise Laws in India. The Central Excise duty is levied in terms of the Central Exercise Act of 1944. |
SSLC supplementary results 2011 Karnataka announced on 11th July Posted: 11 Jul 2011 04:24 PM PDT The results of the secondary school certificate Supplementary Examinations (SSLC) were declared by the Karnataka Secondary Education Examination Board (KSEEB) on 11th July 2011. The Board will declared the results at 11 am at all the junior colleges and high schools across the state of Karnataka in India.
The heads of all the schools and junior colleges have been called by the KSEEB to collect the results sheet at 11 am from the office of the Block Education Officer. The students who have appeared for the examination can access the results from the official website. The students are requested to maintain patience, as the website may take sometime to respond due to heavy web traffic. The results were declared at the schools at 3 pm. The appeared candidates can also access the results through their mobile phones. The students have to type KAR10 (space) registration number and have to send it to 56263. |
