Lokpal Bill exempts PM from purview, rejects Anna Hazare’s version Posted: 28 Jul 2011 03:53 AM PDT The most controversial Lokpal draft Bill has been approved by the Cabinet in a meeting held in Thursday. The Bill that has been approved is the one that is drafted by the government. But the one which was drafted by Anna Hazare and his team has been rejected. According to the government drafted bill, the Prime Minister will not be included in the purview of Lokpal but can be investigated only after he gives up his office. Salman Khursheed, the law minister while talking about he Lokpal Bill said that there will not be any procedure against the Prime Minister, when he is in the office. Khursheed added that there would be a seven year limitation period for the complaints, which means that the Lokpal or the Ombudsman will not be investigating the complaint over seven years after it has been made. The chairperson must be a serving or a retired Chief Justice of India or the Supreme Court Judge. |
Pakistan Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar offers peace between India and Pakistan Posted: 27 Jul 2011 10:38 PM PDT Pakistani politician, Hina Rabbani Khar, has created history in her country by becoming the youngest and the first female Minister of Foreign Affairs. Khar is holding her post since 20th July 2011, when she was appointed as the Minister of Foreign Affairs. But since her appointment, questions have been constantly raised about the appointment of the 34 year old Khar, who is a business woman by profession. Pakistani politicians have raised questions about her appointment due to her age and her lack of experience. Still Khar, since her appointment has been taking up her responsibilities and had also met the Indian Prime Minister, Manmohan Singh during her three day visit to India. Ms Khar had assured of friendly, co-operative and good relations within India and Pakistan. In a statement Dr Singh had said that he had welcomed the progress that has been made in the talks and had also termed it as 'Heralding of a new spring' between the two countries. Singh had even added that he expects friendliest relations and resolution of all the issues with Pakistan. |
