Vijender Singh in trouble for printing National emblem on reception cards Posted: 01 Jul 2011 12:32 AM PDT Olympic medalist Vijender Singh has landed in trouble after he had printed the national Emblem on the invitation cards of his wedding reception. The Indian boxer, his family and the printer has been booked by the police for the misuse of the national emblem. According to the superintendent of police, Bhiwani, Ashwin Sainvi, it is a cognizable offence and in such cases it is essential to seek permission from the court to take the matter further. The case was filed by Abhishek Kadyan, from Delhi on the basis of the media reports. Vijender's marriage reception was organized on 18th May 2011 at his native village Kaluwas in Bhiwani. The invitation cards, which were distributed by the boxer, had the Indian emblem printed. The police had taken a month to take official action over the matter. Vijender has been booked under the Section 3 of the National Emblem and Names Act 1950 (prevention of improper use). The case has been filed with the Bhiwani Sadar Police station. The SP has said that they would take appropriate actions according to the directions of the court. |
