Earthquake of 6.8 magnitude strikes Japan again Posted: 19 Aug 2011 12:29 AM PDT Another strong earthquake has struck in Japan measuring, 6.8 on the Richter scale. The earthquake struck at the northeastern coast in Japan. The information of the quake was given by the Japan Meteorological Department on Friday. It was further informed that a 50cm tsunami advisory is also warned for the coast of Miyagi as well as Fukushima prefectures. These were the two regions that were massively devastated by an earthquake in the month of March. The agency had said that the quake has struck about 20 kms deep ad the epicenter is located slightly south, where a 9.0 magnitude earthquake had struck in the month of March. The earthquake that had struck in Miyagi and Fukushima on Friday, the tremors were also felt in the capital Tokyo. It was also reported that the building had also swayed a bit due to the quake. Japan is vulnerable to quakes as it is located at the top of four tectonic plates. The March 11 incident had killed more than 15,000 people and had caused a huge loss. |
Honda Brio production to start next month Posted: 18 Aug 2011 11:54 PM PDT Auto giant Honda has said that the production of the much awaited hatchback Brio could begin next month. The announcement was announced by Jnaneshwar Sen, the Senior Vice President of sales and marketing. Sen also said that the production of the Brio will also bring considerable economies of scope and scale to the operations of the company. The Senior Vice president further added that the manufacturing efficiencies would considerably bring down the cost also. Earlier, certain media reports had said that the Brio will be launched in the month of September 2011. The company has high expectations with the new Brio as it could possibly do wonder to the brand of Honda. The only drawback is that the Honda Brio will not be launched in a diesel version and will come with a 1.2 litre 90 BHp petrol engine. The Brio has already been launched in Thailand, where beige interiors have been used. It is still not clear what kind of interiors might be used for the Indian version. Meanwhile, Honda has drastically reduced the cost of the Jazz hatchback by Rs. 1.62 lakhs and will now be available starting from Rs. 5.50 lakhs. |
Honda cuts price of Jazz by Rs. 1.62 lakhs Posted: 18 Aug 2011 10:39 PM PDT The Indian unit of the Japanese auto company, Honda, has cut the price of its hatchback Jazz by Rs. 1.62 lakh. The drastic cut in the price has been offered, so as remain in the competition for the hatchbacks in the Indian market. The Honda Jazz will now be competing against the existing hatchbacks like, Nissan Micra, Hyundai i20, Volkswagen Polo, Maruti Swift, Fiat Punto, Skoda Fabia and Toyota Liva. Seki Inaba, the Honda Siel cars India director has said that the new price will definitely attract and appeal to the customers. Inaba also added that they would also be able to handle the larger bulk of sales in the hatchback segment. The Jazz will be having the same old 1.2 litre engine i-VTEC petrol engine, which will be giving an average of 16.7 kmpl. It has a new sports look with an improved aerodynamic design on the front grill along with beige interiors and USB port in the music system. The Honda Jazz will now be available at the starting price of Rs. 5.50 lakhs. The sales of the hatchback had dipped in the past few months and the analysts have said that the price cut could help the company. |
