Sonia Gandhi to undergo surgery in United States Posted: 04 Aug 2011 03:55 AM PDT One of the most prominent figures of the Indian politics Sonia Gandhi, will be going through surgery. Gandhi, who is the party chief of the Congress, will be going through a surgery possibly in the United States. The condition for which the party chief has to under go the surgery has not yet been disclosed. Gandhi might have to be away for about two to three weeks for the surgery. But the absence of the 64 year old politician from the political surrounding might further hamper the coalition government led by Congress. The ruling party is already surrounded in several corruption scandals and the fury of the public over the inflation. This might also lead to the rise of her son Rahul Gandhi to take the responsibilities while she is away. Earlier, there was some confusion regarding the surgery of the politician, when Janardan Dwivedi, a general secretary of the party had said that she has already undergone a surgery. But later he had corrected and said that she will be undergoing a surgery somewhere abroad. |
Government drafted Lokpal Bill introduced in Lok Sabha Posted: 04 Aug 2011 02:07 AM PDT On Thursday, the controversial Lokpal Bill was introduced in the Lok Sabha by the government. The bill that has been drafted by the government is protested throughout the country as the bill does not bring the Prime Minister under its ambit. The members of the civil society had burnt the copies of the government drafted bill, to protest against it. The Bharatiya Janata Party had opined that the Prime Minister should be brought under the ambit of the Bill. The bill that was drafted by the India Against Corruption activist, Anna Hazare, was rejected by the government. Hazare while addressing a crowd in a village in the state of Maharashtra has said that the bill in the present form is very week and will not be in a position to fight graft. The activist has appealed to burn the copies of the draft across the country to protest against the government drafted Lokpal Bill. Hazare will be making his last try to protest against the bill by fasting from 16th August 2011 and has also appealed people to join him in the hunger strike. The activist said that he had trusted the government but they had betrayed him by drafting such a week Lokpal Bill. |
Bank of India announces recruitment for marketing executives and law officers Posted: 03 Aug 2011 11:47 PM PDT Applications are invited from interested candidates for the recruitment in the various posts of specialist officers – Marketing Executive (MBA) and law officers in Bank of India. The bank has invited applications for 14 posts of Marketing executives (MBA) scale I, 278 posts of Marketing Executives (MBA) scale II and 3 posts of law officers. The interested candidates can view the advertisement of the recruitment at the official website by clicking here. According to the notification, the minimum age required for the posts is 21 and the maximum age is 30 years as on 31/07/2011. The bank has also mentioned the pay scale of the posts as Rs. 14,500 to Rs. 25,700 for JMG scale I and Rs. 19,400 to Rs. 28,100 for MMG scale II. The rules of the age limit can be relaxable as per the rules in special cases. The candidates are requested to apply along with the application fees on or before 16/08/2011. The candidates will be charged Rs.400 for the application but the candidates who come under the SC, ST, PWD and Ex service men will not be charged any application fees. |
