Taylor Lautner and his new movie Abduction To Prove Himself

Posted: 26 Sep 2011 05:26 AM PDT

Taylor Lautner and his new movie Abduction. For a while there they were throwing everything at that kid. Multiple offers, multiple millions, a lot of hype without much to back it up. Lautner has Twilight, sure, but Twilight is what makes Twilight. Lautner doesn't make Twilight. Abduction is his first opportunity to prove he can carry his own sh-t. He needs this. Which, I mean, that is so sad to me. That a 19 year old "needs" his movie to open strong. But this is what they've made him.

So how's it looking for Tom Cruise Jr? Well, the projections, they're ranging from as low as $7 million to a very optimistic $15 million. But no one thinks it'll get higher than 4th place. What? But what about the power of the 12 year old girl? Well, the critics aren't 12. And the critics... they are not being kind:

"To give Mr. Lautner his due, he is a martial-arts dervish with perfectly sculptured abs. His acting, however, is another matter." - The New York Times

And, um, that was one of the more delicate reviews. Many of the others sound a lot like this:

"This may be the first film I've even seen where when an actor goes to put his hand thoughtfully on his chin, it's so awkward I became afraid he'd somehow miss and poke himself in the eye." - Movieline

This has always been my problem with Lautner. It's that trained earnestness. Being earnest authentically is a fine quality in a human being. It's a very, very weird quality in a packaged automatic Hollywood money machine who doesn't actually know what real feelings feel like. Having said that, I am not 12. Taylor Lautner's problem going forward though is whether or not he'll ever be able to move beyond appealing to a 12 year old. Justin Bieber looks to have a better chance of this than he does right now.

Mausam - Mp3 Songs Download Audio Watch Movie Review

Some love stories may be timeless, but that doesn't mean that the teller of such tales should have scant regard for the time of the audience. Pankaj Kapur, who, as an actor, has all my respect, spins a never-ending, forever meandering yarn called Mausam that unspools over a period of 10 years, through many seasons, half a dozen cities and gaons, and four historical events before mercifully culminating after three good hours of our patience test. One could be forgiven for thinking that a whole darned mausam passed by outside as one sat cooped up in the theatre through this bum-achingly long saga where ages pass before the muted lovers utter their first expression of affection.

Clearly, Mausam is a film belonging to the old world romance, where the lovers spend a good part of their dalliance watching each other from a distance, and when they do meet they communicate through sweet musings doodled on chits of paper. One can't say how much this film will appeal to the Facebook generation where relationship statuses change overnight and those 'three special words' and much more is said and shared without even being fully sure that the person on the other end is indeed the one in the profile pic.

So you see a young Punjabi munda Harrinder aka Harry (Shahid Kapoor) cycling through the puddles of his village Mallukot and chewing on sugarcane with his buddies in sarson ke khet before he is hit by the thunderbolt called love when he sees a preternaturally tall but decidedly cute Aayat (Sonam Kapoor), a Muslim girl from Kashmir. Obviously Harry woos and serenades the Kashmiri kudi but their love story is nipped in the bud, thanks to the first historical event, the demolition of the Babri Mosque. Mausam one over!

Mahie Gill Had Vodka Before Shedding Her Clothes

Posted: 26 Sep 2011 04:43 AM PDT

While promoting the film in Chandigarh on Sunday, the actress opened up about the lovemaking scene and how she shed her inhibition before shooting it.

"Bold scenes that I am doing in the movie are an indispensable and inseparable part of it. But I think those scenes are only hot, and not vulgar," Mahi Gill, who originally hails from Punjab, told reporters at a press meet.

Apparently, the scenes in the movie required Mahi to also shed her clothes.

"I shed my clothes as the movie demanded so and not to hit the headlines," she said in a matter of fact way.

But was she comfortable doing the hot scene?

"I was not able to do it. But Vodka is just awesome. One peg of Vodka worked for me and finally I did it. Thrilled by the Vodka-effect, I loaded myself with another 3-4 pegs." Mahi revealed on a lighter note.

Katrina Kaif helping sister Isabelle In her dream Bollywood debut

Posted: 26 Sep 2011 04:39 AM PDT

Well, yes! Katrina Kaif, who is very close to her family, knows that her younger sister has Bollywood dreams, but she won't launch her. Isabelle is studying acting in the US and it is still early to say anything about her B-town debut, believes badi didi Kat, who has no intention of producing a film for her sister, say reports.

"Isabella is still studying acting. When the time is right, I will definitely help her get a good launch because by now, I pretty much know everyone in the industry, but I will not be producing a film for her," says Katrina while talking to a daily.

Earlier, when Isabelle was spotted with director Ayan Mukherjee at a filmy do, speculations were rife that she might do a film with Ayan. When in India, Isabelle hobnobs with her Bollywood acquaintances and friends, thanks to her actress sister, and to go by Kat comment, we know Isabelle will have a dream launch, even if it won't be produced by Kat.
