The 1968 Immaculate High graduate, whose coaching credentials include a Super Bowl ring as the New York Giants' quarterbacks coach in 2007, is heading in a new direction on what has been quite a long and successful career path. as it turns out, that path has led him all the way back to Immaculate High after all these years.

Palmer is the head coach and general manager of the United Football League's Hartford Colonials. In an effort to amass the most talented players for the Colonials' inaugural season this coming fall, Palmer and his staff have held several open tryouts, the last of which will be next Saturday at Immaculate.

Mark Souder Would be resigning

Mark Souder, R-3rd, said Tuesday he will resign from Congress. Souder, who won re-nomination to run for a ninth term, said he won't be a candidate in the fall. "I believe it is the best decision for my family, the people of northeast Indiana and our country," he said in a statement. Souder is the latest politician whose political career crumbled under rumors and admissions of extramarital affairs. "In the poisonous environment of Washington, D.C., any personal failing is seized upon, often twisted, for political gain," he said. "I am resigning rather than to put my family through that painful, drawn-out process.

Souder's anti-gay voting record: NO on hate crimes (2009), NO on ENDA (2007), YES on constitutional ban on gay marriage (2006), YES on gay adoption ban (1999).

Politico is reporting that longtime Indiana congressman Mark Souder, a socially conservative Republican who railed against consensual sex outside of marriage, is resigning because he had an affair with a female aide. He is a married father of three.

Oops. Souder frequently meddled with CDC research into at-risk behavior, and made life difficult for medical researchers of teen pregnancy and sexually transmitted disease. For example, in March 2004, Souder hauled Dr. Jonathan Zenilman, a former C.D.C. officer and S.T.D. specialist at Hopkins who happens to be my father, before his committee and proceeded to lecture him on the sins of condoms and sex outside of wedlock and its liberal enablers.

Forgiveness, however, is not a quality he shares with his Lord Souder. No Republican has been more outspoken in Congress in its moral condemnation of Americans who use illegal drugs. To punish such sin, Souder defended vigorously defended the law and perhaps less tolerant of federal books: the refusal of the federal student aid for any student convicted of drug possession, no matter how insignificant.

Souder passion led war on drugs his promotion to chair the Government Reform Subcommittee on Criminal Justice, Drug Policy and Human Resources, which had jurisdiction over the national and international anti-drug efforts and had supervision of the Office of the White House National "De-are-you-ge" Control Policy, also known as the office of drug czar.

Indy 500 Winners Aspectations

The Indianapolis 500-Mile Race, also known as the Indianapolis 500, the Indy 500 or The 500, is an American automobile race, held annually over the Memorial Day weekend at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway in Speedway, Indiana. The event lends its name to the IndyCar class, or formula, of open-wheel race cars that have competed in it.

"My excitement is as high as it's ever been," he told the Indy Star. "The truth is, I probably won't understand it all until later because I haven't experienced it.

"From what I've heard, you go through these two weeks, go through qualifying, get to the race and then you will get another level of excitement, which I can only imagine."

Those who are attending the Indianapolis 500 can come to the city early and take part in the pre-race festivities. The pre-race activities start on May 15, 2010, and include live music, autograph signings, question and answer sessions, practices and more. Those who attend these events will get an inside look at the Indy 500. They will also get to mingle with other race fans and learn more about their favorite sport.

After the pre-race activities, travelers can attend the main event. The Indianapolis 500 will be held on Sunday, May 30, 2010. The Indianapolis 500 is one of the most popular races in the world, and keeps spectators on the edge of their seats through all 200 laps. People can cheer on their favorite racers and soak up the atmosphere at the Motor Speedway.

As it turned out, Foyt faded at the start and was collected in the lap 27 crash that involved Kevin Cogan and Roberto Guerrero. But it was a great race, with a fantastic late-race battle between Rick Mears and Michael Andretti, with Mears eventually winning his fourth Indy 500.

I watched those tapes countless times over the next few weeks. I had not been to the Indianapolis 500 since 1972, when I was thirteen. By this time; I was thirty-two, married, had two young kids of my own and had a decent career going. I mentioned to my (then) wife that we should go the next year. Between a few grumbles, harrumphs and "we'll see's"; it became obvious she wasn't thrilled with the prospect.



By pure coincidence, we had already planned a trip to Chicago in July of 1991 to visit friends. On the way back, I thought it would be fun to stop off at the Speedway. We toured the museum and took the bus tour around the track. That's all it took. The bug bit me and I was hooked. As we exited through the tunnel onto 16th Street, I think my wife knew that she was destined to be returning the following May. She was right.
