‘Raavan’: Mani Ratnam turns hairdresser Posted: 11 Jun 2010 04:47 AM PDT As 'Raavan' gets ready for the mega release on June 18th, speculations doing the rounds reveal that Abhishek Bachchan's stylist in the movie is none other than director Mani Ratnam himself. Junior Bachchan who plays the lead role of Beera, a dalit leader, was required to sport a tough and raw look for the character. After disapproving Bollywood stylist Aalim's art, Ratnam himself took up the responsibility and chopped off Abhi's hair at the location. However, Aalim was asked to do touch ups on the director's effort regularly, by making frequent visits to the shooting site in the jungles of Kerala. Abhishek's stubble look is an essential feature of his character and Mani Ratnam was hellbound to make sure that the actor is made to fit the bill. Since Beera represents the underprivileged class, the character was assigned an impoverished and less refined look. It has also been reported that by agreeing to the hair cut Abhi has finally kept his word of sporting a hair do of Mani's choice. This promise was supposedly made during the filming of "Yuva" The star cast also includes Aishwarya Rai opposite Abhishek, alongwith actors like Govinda, Ravi Kissen, and Nikhil Dwivedi. The film is shot in both Hindi and Tamil versions. Aishwarya plays the role of Sita in both, while Abhishek and Vikram enact Raavan in Hindi and Tamil versions respectively. |
