Update: Tsunami watches in all areas canclled except India

gets hit by a terrific earthquake recording 7.7 on rictor scale showing signs of tsunami!

This earthquake hit on Sunday at 1:26a.m. local time (1926 UTC Saturday) which can even give birth to tsunami in several countries as per seismologists.

The epicenter of this powerful earthquake was approximately 157 kms (98 miles) in the west-southwest of Misha on Nicobar Islands of India and took place around 35 kms (21.7 miles) in depth resulting in a shallow earthquake as per the Geological Survey by United States.

An immediate tsunami watch has been sent out by the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center for India, Indonesia, Sri lanka, Thailand, Malaysia and Myanmar too. The center stated that this size earthquakes have a lot of potential to give birth to local as well as regional tsunami sometimes along the coasts that are upto 1000kms from the epicenter of earthquake.

According to the automated impact model by The Joint Research Center of the European Commission, a sort of tsunami got generated.

As per the West Coast and Alaska Tsunami Warning Center, there were no signs of tsunami along the coasts of California, Washington, Alaska, British Columbia and Oregon.

The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center has to say the if there was a tsunami, the Nicobar Islands must have faced a hit around 1:53 a.m. local time (1953 UTC Saturday) followed by other areas.

Sigh of relief to Nityananda: granted conditional bail

Karnataka High Court giving some relief to Nithyananda by granting him conditional bail on Friday.

The Godly figure of South India, was held under the charges of rape, criminal intimidation and cheating along with Bhaktananda, one of his close deciples, and two other people. The four people were arrested by the CID officials of Karnataka, from a village near Solan in Himachal Pradesh.

Nityananda, who is presently in Ramanagaram jail will walk out as a free man once he produces the bail order before the Ramanagaram magistrate and the jail authorities.

B.V. Acharya, Senior counsel and former Advocate-General said the CID has failed to produce any substantial evidence against his client, Nityananda. He added that the saint has been retained in the police custody with charges which lack any type of strength. He also said that the great man has been wrongly charges in cases under IPC (Indian Penal Code.)
