Movie Review: I Hate Luv Storys (IHLS), Young & Vibrant Posted: 02 Jul 2010 04:04 AM PDT Movie Review I Hate Luv Storys 2010: 'Romance' as a genre has always attracted movie goers across class, gender and culture. In Indian films romance has a special place unsurpassed by all other genres. We love to love like our heroes; we love to get mushy-mushy like our heroines. Get ready this Friday to fall in love once again. [I hate luv Storys Mp3 Songs] Debutant director, Punit Malhotra has forayed into the tried and tested formula and has come up with 'I hate luv Storeys'- a story about relationship, about care and most importantly about love. The cast is an ensemble of youngsters- Imran Khan as Jay, Sonam Kapoor as Simran and Samir Dattani as Raj. The plot is very true to the adage that opposites attract. Jay, who works as an Assistant Director to one of the most popular romantic film maker is very cynical about the idea of love. He can never fathom the idea that he will ever fall in love. Simran, who works as a production designer under the same director, on the other hand is a romantic dreamer and has great faith in love, who is already in a relationship with Raj. Love blossoms when they cross their path. The story then is their effort to formalize their relationship. After some initial hitches they fall in love and Raj is left gasping for fresh air. Though the plot is nothing new or the story would be able to change the course of Hindi Cinema but the casting and characterization is excellent. In the last few years there has seldom been such chemistry among the lead actors. They look beautiful together. This could be the only reason for people flocking to the theatres. Imran and Sonam do full justice to their characters. They play their age and are confident about what they want in their lives. They have clear goals about their careers. The suaveness and the confidence of the lead duo will attract the audience the most. The urban youth will have no problem associating with the duo. Their way of dressing, their mannerism and attitude are at par with any high society boy or girl from Delhi or Mumbai. The other characters have supported the lead actors very well. Apart from Sonam and Imran the rest of the cast has not been utilized to their full potential. The music by Vishal- Shekhar is the high point of the film. After Imran Khan's last film, 'Kidnap' bombed at the box-office he badly needs a hit. Same goes for Sonam Kapoor. Her 'Dilli 6' also did not do pretty well. Both actors are crossing their fingers for this one. In this age of new and innovative cinema this one comes as a regular run off the mill film. Punit Malhotra is definitely not someone to look after this season. If the film turns out to be a hit both Khan and Kapoor can be satisfied that romantic films are their forte and they dare not try something different. If you are a die-hard fan of romantic films and good songs (only then) watch this film. Movie Ratings I Hate Luv Storys – 3.5/5 | ||
