Debutant Director Vikramaditya Motwane’s Udaan won acclaims at the Cannes film festival too where it was showcased early this year. Udaan deals with the problems faced by teenagers ranging from adjusting in a hostel, accepting a step-brother at home to issues dealing with love and sex. It is a no-nonsense movie set against the backdrop of a middle-class family. Ronit Roy has played as a catalyst for the success of the movie with his enactment of a cold-blooded, strict father who aspires to hold his family together with moralistic values. The movie reflects light upon the life of the protagonist, Rohan, who wants to become a writer which is something his authoritative father does not approve of. He is also a victim of domestic abuse and falls into the company of edgy friends. The movie relates to the youth in general as it is very realistic in approach and implementation.
