Bakhtawar Bhutto: Benazir’s daughter following her footsteps? Posted: 06 Aug 2010 09:30 AM PDT
Bakhtawar is a revelation for many. The daughter of slain premier Benazir Bhutto and president Zardari, is the ideal combination of conservation and modernity. She is educated in Edinburg, an aspiring rapper with quite a few dedications towards her mother and sports a scarf to emphasize her Islamic identity. It's not difficult to predict who she takes after. Bakhtawar, maintains a Dupatta covered image in all her public appearances and it's also true for her younger sibling Asifa but when it comes to her private music page, she adorns a cap instead. Also it is common knowledge that Pakistanis judge their women by the way in which they wrap themselves in a 2.5 m long, flowing fabric. It is strange that Bakhtawar, should adopt this Dupatta covering ritual since she's a modernist and a rapper at that. Most people expected her to realise the fact that nowadays it is treated as a religious relic and not a symbol of dignity. Bakhtawar is following in the footsteps of her very feminine mother, Benazir who not only was an astute politician but a great follower of traditions even as old and obsolete as the covering of the head. It is ironical that her grandmother who would be a great many decades behind her generation treats this as a cumbersome relic and usually prefers a sari. Benazir Bhutto also did not accept it as a way of life until she returned to Pakistan during the reign of general Zia-ul-Haq. Benazir Bhutto was progressive and not quite the submissive traditionalists as Pakistani women are deemed to be. She was however backed by critics who thought it was the correct tactics to follow under General Zia's rule and with good reason. A former politician, Zil-e-Huma Usman was shot in a political gathering because she had not covered her head as prescribed. There are very few examples in the other hand of female politicians who have survived after denying going along with the head-gear. In fact, the best example would obviously be Sherry Rehman who was totally not affected by anybody and refused to follow this system. |
Posted: 06 Aug 2010 04:37 AM PDT The famous telegu villain from the film Don Seenu with its review has been down to a dummy long ago. It seems like reducing the number of intelligent villains anyways heightens up the value of the heros. Ravi Teja brought in his act of mimicking the great Amitabh Bachchan with the name Don. The review tells the story line looses out on interest of the audience after a while with the lost focus. In the story, the Don Seenu works for Machineni (Sayaji Shinde), who is on a constant road against his rival Machineni (Sayaji Shinde). Don Seenu, who is supposed to be working for Machineni (Sayaji Shinde), instead kidnaps the man's sister and joins with the rivals makes his sister Anjana Sukhani fall for him. The movie review also tells that the story also moves to a sentimental flashback that attempts an impression of dignity but fails to do so. The roles of Shriya and Anjani Sujhani bring in a light element to the story where Shriya shows off her slaughter-filled looks, and Anjani too freshens up the story, though with limited roles. Both Srihari and Sayaji well support the story with the Telangana dialects, but the weak storyline doesn't allow much of a dynamism to them. Ali, who plays Ravi Teja does his role gracefully. Click here for Don Seenu MP3 Songs The songs are ranked OK while the Cinematography is quite smooth. The film is a complete siren for Ravi Teja to do a think over onto his stories. Anyways, the film still manages to keep you up with certain acts of amusements and tricks. Click here for More Trailer |

He chose a wadi in Chembur as the perfect setting for his story and was amazed to see how the life out there was different from his own. Their society was much closely knitted and the neighbours shared each other happiness and sorrow like family members. He also noticed a winning streak within them and has tried to adapt the same within his film via the lead pair. The main characters Neil Nitin Mukesh who plays One Shot Nandu, a boxer, and Deepika Padukone, a blind girl aims make the impossible possible with their determination and thirst for victory. Sarkar admits that it was initially difficult to play and direct such characters. But both Neil and Deepika displayed great spirit and determination getting the things right. Action director Sham Kaushal has done a fantastic job in training the actors, said Sarkar. "He and his assistants would guide him when he was blindfolded. At first he would falter r the part by observing or interacting with blind people. It was the approach of focusing her mind on something and looking ahead with a blank expression, something we do so often in real life. The moment she understood that she started giving perfect expressions," explained the director. He also adds that they have not done any extraordinary action scenes in the film. Whatever is shown is typical of any person of their age residing in these localities. |

Hiroshima Day: Peace March to take place in Mumbai Posted: 05 Aug 2010 11:04 PM PDT August 6 is a day of mourning and prayers for the world in general and the Japanese in particular. The day shall witness the 65th anniversary of one of the world's worst man made disasters – the nuclear bombing in Hiroshima during the Second World War. The first nuclear attack by the United States claimed about 1, 50,000 lives and made thousands to bear its after effects across several generations. But now, more than half a century later, both Japan and the US have come a long way in their bilateral relations. There are advocates in both Japan and America who think that the bombing was justified and it cut short the war. But at the same time, some think that the US owes the Japanese at least an apology for the gruesome act. The Hiroshima Day will be observed world wide as an occasion to promote peace and harmony. In Mumbai, a Hiroshima Day Peace March will take place in which college students from across the city shall participate. Organised by National Service Scheme, Mumbai University and Bombay Sarvodaya Mandal, an NGO, the march aims to create awareness about the dangerous nuclear weapons. The world as a whole shall pray for a nuclear arms free environment to ensure safe and secure future of the earth and its inhabitants. |
