Peepli Live – A peek into the hinterlands Posted: 16 Aug 2010 11:03 AM PDT
Peepli live is unconventional, out of the box social drama never before shown so clearly on Indian cinema. It satirises the role of media, journalists, politicians and even family relationships. Set in a small make belief village called Peepli, in the State of 'Mukhya Pradesh', Peepli is the story of a farmer household and how their lives become intertwined in public issues of farmer welfare and central government schemes – their goods and the overpowering bads. Peepli Live points out to the evils in our society, to the heights of desperation wherein a farmer is forced to commit suicide to save his land and avail of the benefits of a government scheme. Yet, in spite of all the troubles that one may face, there is never a guarantee that the payment will come through. For political reasons, a Lal Bahadur is the only consolation left. Peepli Live reports live from Peepli, about the events, the simple lives of villagers and how everything can turn upside down with media and political intervention. Does anything come out of it? Peepli live is full of contrasting characters. One is Rakesh, who is hurt and captured by the helpless of media. Why can't he help his people instead of just making 'stories' out of their lives? On the other hand is Nandita Malik , the city journalist, who has come to terms with it and sees journalism as just her profession. Peeple Live takes many angles, assumes many roles, and offers many thought points. Which end of the spectrum do you choose to view it from? Like all good works of art, Peepli live offers Indian cinema some food for thought. |

It is reported that this news was updated by a Pakistani Website comprising Atif's fans. We sincerely hope they didn't know assume it to be a passable joke or they could get themselves into a hell lot of trouble. He retorted that there was no possibility of that happening since there was no such show scheduled. Shahzad went on to inform that Atif was in fact pretty engrossed in promotions for his upcoming movie directed by Shoaib Mansoor who has also directed "Khuda Kay Liye". Hera Pheri 3 : Look out for a change ! Posted: 16 Aug 2010 06:23 AM PDT Producer, Feroze Nadiawala, is still stuck with the idea of making the third sequel to Hera Pheri, despite the original actors refusing to play their parts. He has had this plan for a long time now, but as it is, he has finally put his plans into implementation. This time, the Hera Pheri stars, Akshay Kumar, Sunil Shetty and Paresh Rawal have all declined the offer, owning to own different personal reasons, from producer, Feroze Nadiadwala, to make the third part of the uptil now successful series, Hera Pheri. So finally when nobody gave him the dates, the disappointed director turns towards Ravan : Abhishek Bachchan, controversial star : Sanjay Dutt and the famous actor : Nana Patekar. The three have signed a contract together to do the thirs sequel to Hera Pheri, Hera Pheri 3. The director too, would not remain the same. Mr. Anees Bazmee, will be replacing the earlier director, Neeraj Vora Priyadarshan. The directorial change is sure to bring out a huge change in the movie. Surely there will be a lot of difference in the style of humour, this time. Anees is currently working with Akshay Kumar and Anil Kapoor’s daughter, Sonam Kapoor, for his movie, ‘Thank You’. After he is done with the direction of ‘Thank You’, Anees would start working for his next comedy flick, ‘Hera Pheri 3′. |

Posted: 16 Aug 2010 04:18 AM PDT Today marks the end of a great Indian poet, Narayan Surve. Surve was a Maharashtrian and preferred to write in his mother tongue. He was a great hand in Marathi literature.Surve was a social worker who aimed towards advancement of the Indian middle and lower class societies. The poet has compiled beautiful creation of his own, especially in his first album, Aisa Ga Mee Brahma (1962). His second album, Majhe Vidyapeeth, also went high with the Maharashtrian crowd. The urban crwod are the main subject od Surve. He would always talk of the metro cities and how the people went just about after anything to earn the littlest worth of money possible. He drew comparisons and used the weapon of ‘Irony’ to explain the huge difference in the mentality and condition of the two India’s. The rural on one hand would be satisfied enough, if earned a day’s mone or food, On the other hand, the urban would kill every piece of meat to earn for the rest of their lives. As he would say : "Bhakricha chandra shodhnyaatach jindagi barbaad", which means that one wastes his life looking for pieces of bread to fill up stomachs. |

Endhiran: Robot parallels Sholay’s perfection- says Rajnikant at music launch Posted: 15 Aug 2010 11:29 PM PDT Rajnikant at the audio launch of his upcoming movie Robot shared some appreciative moments with bollywoods mega star Amitabh Bachchan who was also attending the event of the science fiction thriller movie along with Jaya and Aishwarya. The south star praised his upcoming movie that is made under the directorial skills of Shankar and has Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in the lead role to such an extent that he compared it to the Indian cinemas milestone Sholay which stands on unparalleled point of success for the past 35 years. Rajnikant pointed through his words that the mega block buster Sholay did not make its mark because of the star cast or its budget and neither because of its technicalities, but is instead remembered for its line of subject. Similarly Robot even though is a very high budget movie standing on a gross 160 crore has all the features that are sought for in a hit flick like Sholay. He said the movie has perfect character sketches and a well defined story line which will bring a new element into the Indian cinemas. Amitabh Bachchan has shared previous working association with Rajnikant in films like 'Giraftar', 'Andhaa Kaanoon' and 'Hum'. For this reason Big B also let no chances of praising Rajnikant at the event and vice versa. |
