“Chinese Muslims Arabic Ability = Opportunity” plus 7 more

“Chinese Muslims Arabic Ability = Opportunity” plus 7 more

Chinese Muslims Arabic Ability = Opportunity

Posted: 06 Sep 2010 12:41 PM PDT

There is a population of Arabic speaking Chinese numbering around 10 million. They are spread across China, but mostly in Ningxia, in the country’s northwest.

Now with China and Arab oil deals being made, this unlikely place has become a source of translators with Arabic/Chinese skills much needed in the coastal regions.

The sentiment is "We don’t have enough classrooms."

With the average per capita earnings of Chinese being around $1,740, a salary of $2,500 to ten times that much is quite appealing for people gifted in these two languages.

Still, training facilities and teachers are lacking.

Perhaps overseas Chinese might consider studying Arabic before they return/if they plan to return to China.

Labor Day Is Celebrated On The First Monday Of September

Posted: 06 Sep 2010 07:00 AM PDT

The United States of America observes Labor Day on the first Monday of the month of September and it is a national holiday. The first ever 'Labor Day' was celebrated in the year 1882 on September 5 in New York, but started celebrating the day as a national holiday from 1894 after many workers died at the hands of US Military at the time of the Pullman Strike.

Labor Day is also celebrated as the symbolic end of summer, and has no political speeches involved, like those on May 1 Labor Day. People prefer to rest or party hard on the day and celebrations include picnics, barbecues, fireworks displays, water sports, and public art events.

The day also flags the National Football League (NFL) and college football season in the US. The NFL starts playing with their matches from the first Thursday after the Labour Day.

Every 10 minutes, bribery case investigated

Posted: 06 Sep 2010 04:39 AM PDT

For the first six months of the year investigators handled a bribery case, every 10 minutes, 24/7 = 24,879 cases in total.

Of those bribery cases, 22% involved government officials.

Beijing says the government is working overtime to deal harshly with major and serious commercial bribery cases – those closely related to people's interest and those that severely damage market order.

Laws are being created – some 125 of them against bribery

so as to provide a more solid legal foundation for fighting the crime.bribery.china.jpg

You have to know what's wrong before you know did.

It's kind of like the old Bible writer, it's when he first read the law that he found out which ones he was breaking.

China asks media and public to monitor and report bribery cases.

In some countries, if it weren't for bribes, nothing would get done.

China doesn't want to be one of them.

Bharat Bandh on 7th September, All India Bandh by Trade Unions

Posted: 06 Sep 2010 12:59 AM PDT

The Times of India has reported that The Trade Union wings of Major Political parties have called for a all India Bandh to protest spiralling prices on Sept 7th 2010.

TOI writes  : “Buoyed up by the ‘success’ of the 12-hour strike earlier this month, the trade union wings of all major parties, including the Congress, have planned yet another Bharat bandh on September 7 to protest spiralling prices.”

“A new feature of the September strike, according to TU sources, would be the participation of the Congress-affiliated INTUC. INTUC chief and a Congress MP D Sanjeeva Reddy has been appointed convener for the TU council spearheading the strike effort.”

“AITUC leader and CPI MP Gurudas Dasgupta said, “I hope Reddy will fight our battle within Congress as well.”"

The other issues the strike will focus on are the government’s `flawed’ economic policy, disinvestment in the PSUs and the `unkept promise’ of a welfare scheme for the unorganised sector.

“At a meeting of the major TUs here on Thursday, it was decided that a 24-hour bandh would be organised all over the country crippling crucial sectors like telecom, banking, transport and mining.”
