Samsung announces Wave II Smartphone

Samsung has annunced that the Wave II smartphone subsequent to the release of its Omnia 7 Windows Phone 7-based device.
Samsung’s own Bada operating system is used in the new smartphone and will feature the TouchWiz UI, akin to the original Wave device. Adding, the wave II will have a, 3.7 inch screen, larger than its predecessor that had a 3.3 inch AMOLED display.

Also, it will come with 1GHz processor and a 5 MP camera that is capable of recording high definition videos and Wave II is slated to be released in the UK by the end of the year 2010.

The connectivity choices available on the phone include Bluetooth 3.0, Wi-Fi 802.11n and micro USB. It supports GPS, TV out and Trace that is similar to SWYPE feature on other Samsung smartphones.

Samsung has said that Wave II S8530 will enter the European market on Nov 2010 however it is anticipated to reach India by start of the year 2011. It is predicted that Wave II S8530 will be priced around Rs 26,160 in India.

Nokia launches N8 smartphone at Rs 26,000

Airtel launches mGolu contest

BSNL offers free 2G SIM with special mobile

BSNL, the India's largest integrated telecom service provider has publicized its promotional schemes during the on-going festive month of October. It has come up with a special Gift of free 2G SIM with special mobile "Home Unlimited plan" for its valued landline users in which the customer can make unlimited free local calls to his/her home landline number.

Customer will get Rs. 15 talk value, 2000 SMS and 50 MB data free on activation. Adding, BSNL has offered 20% discount on its various 3G data vouchers and complete talk value on all top-up vouchers.

From the earlier price of Rs.2756, the unlimited 3G voucher rate has been brought down to Rs. 1499 thereby entailing a huge reduction of 45%. Apart from this BSNL has introduced low denomination 3G data experience packs of one day, 3 days and 7 days.

Shri Gopal Das, Chairman & Managing Director BSNL said that the target of this promotional exercise is to bring a large number of our valued customers to enthusiastically use the mobile internet (GPRS), as only a small percentage of customers having GPRS capable handsets are using GPRS. Cheap mobile call rates for athletes at CWG Village

Many foreign athletes and delegates are attracted by the cheaper international call rates offered by the mobile store at the Commonwealth Games Village. To talk their family and friends, over 700 of them have bought local SIM cards.

Motorola launches smartphone- Droid Pro

Samsung Galaxy S Global Sales Surpass Five Million, and Counting

Nokia starts shipping of C7 mobile
