'Khatron Ke Khiladi' hosted by Priyanka Chopra got the winner Posted: 30 Sep 2010 11:45 PM PDT Popular TV actor Shabbir Ahluwalia has emerged the winner of the third season of "Fear Factor-Khatron Ke Khiladi" after weeks of gruelling tasks involving underwater stunts, fighting off creepy crawlies and jumping off dangerous heights. Shabbir succeeded squash player Ritwik Bhattacharya, after facing two risky stunts on the grand finale, aired on Colors Thursday. Model-actors Milind Soman and Dino Morea were the other two finalists, but lost after the first stunt. Shabbir who earned fame with TV shows like "Kahiin Toh Hoga" and "Kayamath", walked away with a cash prize of Rs.50 lakh (Rs.5 million) and a Scorpio car. The finale involved a stunt where one partner was required to walk atop a train in motion at 55 kmph, and co-ordinating with his partner who was under the train. The second stunt required them to drive a car from under a truck - and whichever team did so the maximum times, won the show. Before being announced as the winner on the show, Shabbir, 31, said the show has made him realise that fear is just a state of mind. "When I came on board, I thought that during the course of it I'll find out what I'm scared of because I always thought that I'm only scared of god. But instead of that, I got to know that fear is nothing. "It's just how you condition your mind. When you know that you have to do a particular stunt and you have to do it well, your entire focus is on that fact and then you forget where you are, what height, what conditions," said Shabbir. The show, hosted by Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra and shot in Brazil, started with 13 male celebrities. Names like Rahul Bose, Rahul Dev, Abhishek Kapoor, Angad Bedi, Manjot Singh, Cyrus Broacha, Karan Singh Grover, Armaan Ebrahim, Terence Lewis, were a part of this season. "Khatron Ke Khiladi" is the Indian version of "Fear Factor", where contestants undergo daredevil stunts to get over their fears and win the show. |
Harry Potter actress Emma Watson, Pattinson voted Britain's best dressed Posted: 30 Sep 2010 11:37 PM PDT "Harry Potter" actress Emma Watson has been voted Britain's best-dressed female, while "Twilight" star Robert Pattinson was named the best-dressed man in a poll by Glamour magazine. Watson topped the poll of 25,000 people, beating off stiff competition from a host of British stars. The 20-year-old star, who once modelled for Burberry, beat Spice Girl-turned-fashion designer Victoria Beckham into second place, with "Atonement" actress Keira Knightly, singer Cheryl Cole and actress-fashion designer Sienna Miller completing the top five. "From Hermione in Hogwarts robes to the face of Burberry Prorsum, Emma Watson's rise and rise to style fame has been an interesting one. Granted that the star commits a fair few faux pas in the style department, she is the golden girl in the front row at LFW (London Fashion Week) and has re-ignited our love of the classic trench," contactmusic.com quoted a spokesperson from Glamour as saying. Meanwhile, 24-year-old Robert Pattinson proved to be most popular with voters pushing Scottish actor Gerard Butler into second place. Watson's "Harry Potter" co-stars also featured highly in the poll with Rupert Grint - who plays Ron Weasley coming third and Daniel "Harry Potter" Radcliffe in fourth place. Footballer David Beckham was fifth. |
Hollywood actress Catherine Zeta-Jones praises brave husband Posted: 30 Sep 2010 11:29 PM PDT Hollywood actress Catherine Zeta-Jones has praised her husband Michael Douglas for the bravery, "great strength and dignity" he has shown in his battle against cancer. The 41-year-old actress said her 66-year-old actor-husband - who is currently undergoing radiation and chemotherapy - is "holding up very, very well" despite the severity of the illness. "Everyone couldn't be happier with his progress. He's holding up with great strength and dignity," contactmusic.com quoted her as saying. Catherine who is from Wales, where the Ryder Cup golf tournament is being held, was due to be accompanied by Michael for the event, but he had to stay in the US with their two children - Dylan and Carys - to continue his treatment. "Michael will be glued to anything that has a golf ball and a club, especially the Ryder Cup. Usually I would be watching it with him. He would be representing the American team and I would be wholeheartedly representing the European team, but not this year, maybe next time," she said. |
Amitabh Bachchan says KBC 4 will show talent from small town India Posted: 30 Sep 2010 11:24 PM PDT Amitabh Bachchan, the actor of the masses, wants to reach out to people in the interiors as the host of "Kaun Banega Crorepati" (KBC). He says this time viewers will get to see some of the best brains from small towns. "For some peculiar reason, a certain section of our country was alienated whenever 'Kaun Banega Crorepati' was held," Amitabh told IANS in an interview. "Now because of rapid growth in mobile and internet, a large section of people that is not necessarily from urban areas but from midtowns, smaller cities and even rural areas, is conversant about what's going on in the rest of the world. Not only are they conversant, they have every knowledge about it. "There is a great effort on their part to improve their conditions and some of the contestants, from several recordings that I have already done, are from either very small villages or small towns but they are very enthusiastic and very knowledgeable and have gone on to win Rs.300,000 and Rs.700,000. One of them even won Rs.25 lakh. "But sadly what's happening is that even though they are educated, they can't go beyond a certain level because they don't have the finance," he said. KBC 4 will go on air on Amitabh's 68th birthday, Oct 11, on Sony and the Bollywood megastar says returning to the hot seat felt like dejà-vu. He was the original show host, while Shah Rukh Khan took over for the third season. "Yes, of course, there is a feeling of having been there before. But every day is so new in KBC, the type of contestants, what he is going to say, how far he is going to go -- makes it more interesting. It's the contestant that makes the show, not me. "There are many things that I don't know. Almost 90 percent I don't know but, yes, it's always very educative," he said. Having done it before, Amitabh still goes for rehearsals. "Nobody is ever going to be perfect, least of all me. And I think it's a fallacy to think that we know everything and therefore we don't need any rehearsal. For anything that's going to be public, I want to be absolutely sure what I am going to do and what the mechanics of the show are. No amount of preparation is going to be enough for something like this. "You may think I have worked in about 200 films and have been working for 41 years, so going in front of the camera is a cakewalk for me; no it isn't so. I still have butterflies in my stomach every night when I have to go for shoot next morning. "(I think about) what are my lines, whether I will be able to say my lines correctly, whether I would be able to give the correct performance, whether the public will be able to appreciate that...," he said. This time too Amitabh would avoid watching the show with his family. "I have actually kept away from watching KBC with the family because I am too scared to sit with someone to watch it. I would retire to some corner of the house where I can't hear or see anything and wait for the report to come from the rest of the family. "I think I would be doing something similar this time also," said Bachchan. |
Tamil movie Robot review starring Rajnikanth, Aishwarya Rai Posted: 30 Sep 2010 11:17 PM PDT Film: "Robot"; Cast: Rajnikanth, Aishwarya Rai, Danny Denzongpa; Director: S. Shankar; Rating: *** Those in the know are aware that 'superstar' Rajnikanth is perceived to be in the image of god. Rajni makes fewer mistakes during the course of a film, than god. In "Robot" this perception is taken a step further as Rajni creates a robot - in his own image. Robotics scientist Vashikaran (Rajni) creates a humanoid robot Chitthi (Rajni). After Chitthi's inability to feel causes him to be rejected from inclusion in the Indian Army, Vashikaran tries to create feelings in him, and thanks to a freak of nature, succeeds. Only it causes problems, as Chitthi falls in love with Vashikaran's fiancee Sana (Aishwarya Rai). As the creator and creation are locked in a jealous battle against each other, the jealous robotics scientist Dr. Bohra plans to misuse Chitthi for wrong objectives. Anyone who has seen a Rajnikanth film understands that often it is not the story that makes the film a success, but Rajni's antics. There are plenty of them in the film. And, for once, his conception as a robot gives Rajni the logic, to lack logic. There are gravity defying stunts, shooting with a finger, running horizontally at high speed on the side of a train, flying cars and bikes, corny but hilarious dialogues -- e.g. after grabbing and pointing scores of guns at the police, he says 'Happy Diwali' before firing a salvo of bullets; or when the robot is asked his address and gives his IP address. It's not just god, the universe and its logic itself is recreated in the film. Director Shankar who has a penchant for double image, multiple images and split images of his heroes returns this time with hundreds of images of Rajnikanth. The inspiration of Hollywood, most predominantly the "Matrix" trilogy (stunts choreographed by Yuen Woo-ping of "Matrix" fame), "The Mask", "I, Robot", and many Frankenstein movies are evident, but not overbearing. Where Shankar scores is the ingenious conception of stunts. The allegedly 'poorer' cousin of Bollywood, the south Indian film industry, has been growing leaps and bounds in the special effects department. And with a little help from Hollywood, like in "Robot", it soars. "Robot", however, cannot boast of good music, so crucial for an Indian film. A.R. Rahman's decision to rely on robotic sounds, which we have heard close to three decades back in films like "Robocop", fails to inspire. He could have at least conceptualised them more intelligently. The Hindi dubbed version is saved by Swanand Kirkire's translation that prevents the dialogues from becoming jarring like previous dubbings of South Indian films. Yet, he could not salvage the songs, whose gibberish lyrics are seemingly out of a time warp from films in the 1990s (remember the Prabhu Deva starrer "Kadhalan" again directed by Shankar with music composed by Rahman). Aishwarya's character is as conventional as expected. She's the chaste love interest, the damsel in distress who has time and again to be saved from being raped, and who is nothing more than eye candy. Two words begin with the letter 'R' and are synonymous: Religion and Rajnikanth. A third has now been added to cinema folklore, 'Robot'. And with the largest number of prints ever for an Indian film and a global release, this sexagenarian actor might still enter world cinema folklore. After all, Rajnikanth can make no mistakes. |
Sex tape of Tiger Woods with a porn star to be out soon Posted: 30 Sep 2010 11:10 PM PDT Porn star Devon James has threatened to reveal a sex tape featuring her and golfer Tiger Woods. James is also in talks with porn star producer Vivid in the hope of selling the tape, reports dailystar.co.uk. She is asking for a minimum of $392,900 for explosive 62-minute recording. "We are flying to Los Angeles today to meet with Vivid about selling the tape," said James. "If they won't get involved, we will self-release it. It's going to be the bomb," she added. This announcement threatens to cast a shadow over the 34-year-old's appearance at the Ryder Cup. Though a lot of people are doubtful whether James story or whether the tape, which she claims was made in 2008, actually exists at all. Woods has been involved in a blistering sex scandal and it broke his marriage with Swedish model Elin Nordegren. They got divorced in August. |
