Posted: 27 Oct 2010 04:28 AM PDT British supermodel Kate Moss can't ever think of stepping out of home without wearing perfume. Moss, who has released a number of perfumes with fragrance company Coty, believes it is important to always smell good when she leaves the home, reports femalefirst.co.uk. "I would not leave the house without having fragrance on, for sure," said Moss. She has recently launched her new perfume Vintage Muse, and says it is targeted at "strong" women who enjoy night out. "It's for strong, confident women. I'm in love with it, it's beautiful! I've always loved musk. I've always loved that kind of sexy, night time kind of feeling. And it's such a beautiful bottle and so lovely to hold," she added. |
Pop diva Madonna to role out fitness chain Posted: 27 Oct 2010 04:25 AM PDT Pop queen Madonna, fit as a fiddle even at 52, is preparing to launch her first gym in Mexico in November. "Madonna's world tours have taken us to many of our favourite cities around the world. We are looking forward to opening Hard Candy Fitness in many of these same places," said Madonna's manager Guy Oseary. The gym will be equipped with dance, bike and yoga studios, saunas and steam rooms, as well as a juice bar. The "Material Girl" hitmaker also plans to take her gym to 10 more locations in Argentina, Russia, Brazil, and later expand throughout Europe and Asia. |
Oliver Stone loves the flexibility of Indian cinema Posted: 27 Oct 2010 04:21 AM PDT Academy Award winning Hollywood filmmaker Oliver Stone, who is currently working on a 12-hour documentary on US history, Tuesday said that he loved the flexibility of Indian cinema to switch from musicals to tragedies. Stone landed here from Singapore to receive the Lifetime Achievement Award at the ongoing Mumbai Film Festival and to show his documentary "South of the Border". Addressing a press conference here, Stone said he had been in India many times. "In fact, the first shot of my film 'Alexander' was shot in Ladakh," he said. Stone said that though he had studied the films of Satyajit Ray and liked them, over the years he had not been able to keep himself updated with what is happening in Indian cinema. "You are the most prolific industry. I cannot keep up. I can't say I have any close understanding of it at all. However, I love the fact that you can switch from musical to romance to tragedy. I love that flexibility and that mentality," the ace director said. The maker of films like "Nixon", "JFK" and "Wall Street" criticised the US foreign policy in his characteristic way. "My films have always been against war and aggression. There is no justification for any war since the Second World War." Stone is working on a 12-hour Leftist documentary series called "The Untold History of the United States". "There's a whole history of this country which has been under-reported and which Americans have no clue about. The documentary has a Left-of-centre approach and there is a deliberate attempt to tell a story that is factual." Criticising Ronald Reagan's free market policies of the 1980s, he said: "'Wall Street' was made in 1987 during the height of Ronald Reagan's free market policies. It went on till the '90s and 2000 and a lot of people got richer, and others did not make anything. It was a horrible period that came to an end in 2008, I hope. There's an economic volatility where we don't know what's gonna happen." Talking about the change that has come over his films, Stone said: "Life changes and so does a filmmaker. I try to change my style in every film." But he maintained that "story and screenplay would be the reason to make a movie". "If you don't have a good screenplay, don't do it." Every film, Stone believes, comes with a destiny of its own. "And once a film comes out, it lasts and stays there." |
Celine Dion was in tears after twins birth Posted: 27 Oct 2010 04:17 AM PDT Singer Celine Dion and her husband Rene Angelil were so overjoyed after the birth of their twins that they had tears in their eyes. "When Saturday, they showed us the first baby that was crying, we were crying," people.com quoted Angelil as telling Canadian entertainment show etalk. "It was a very emotional moment, and even though we didn't speak to each other, we were both thinking about the time it took. "We are very lucky, very privileged and very fortunate to have these boys," he added. Dion, 42, has been open about her fertility struggles and conceived the twins on her sixth in-vitro attempt over the course of about a year. She gave birth to twins Oct 24. |
Jessica Simpson to settle down with Eric Johnson Posted: 27 Oct 2010 04:13 AM PDT Actress Jessica Simpson has praised her boyfriend Eric Johnson for giving her confidence and says she may settle down with the football player soon. "He definitely makes me very happy. He brings out a lot of light in me and makes me very comfortable being who I am. It's nice to be with somebody who praises you for the right reasons," contactmusic.com quoted her as saying. Talking about marriage, she said: "I've definitely dreamed of being married my whole life and having children, so hopefully that's in my future." Jessica also says she is happier ever since she has turned 30. "I love being 30. The moment I turned 30, I really did feel a switch in my life. I was in Capri and I was with my boyfriend and my family and my friends, and I just felt this coming of age moment, this moment where I really just felt the happiest I've ever been and I love the woman inside of me." The actress has previously been married to singer Nick Lachey. |
Robert Pattinson dont want success, fame anymore Posted: 27 Oct 2010 04:07 AM PDT "Twilight" star Robert Pattinson says that success and fame has created problems as he is unable to travel in the US freely. He claims his success has caused more difficulties in the US than his native Britain because everywhere he goes he is hounded by paparazzi and fans, reports contactmusic.com. "It's changed more in America. I always thought it would've by now in London, but it hasn't really. I can't do anything in America. I just don't want to have any stories written about me," he said. "Anyone who likes going out and having their photo taken all the time, to me, seems an incredibly boring person or very delusional." Pattinson, who is dating his "Twilight" co-star Kristen Stewart, also admits his fame makes him "paranoid". "You want to take control of it all the time and it's impossible. It's nice sometimes. You do get kind of paranoid, but it allows me to do the films I want to do," he said. |
Michael Jackson is top earning dead celebrity Posted: 27 Oct 2010 04:04 AM PDT Late pop legend Michael Jackson has topped a list of the highest-earning deceased celebrities after making more money in the past year than 12 other dead stars combined, including Elvis Presley and John Lennon. Jackson, who died in June last year, posthumously pulled in $289 million over the past 12 months with his catalogue and merchandising deals. "This Is It", which documented his ill-fated preparations for the London stage performance, also made $264 million at the box office. Jackson's earnings were greater than the total combined earnings of the 12 other dead stars on Forbes magazine's list, including Presley, Lord of the Rings author J.R.R. Tolkien, Peanuts animator Charles Schulz and Beatles legend Lennon, who rounded out the top five respectively. |
Halle Berry to spend more time with her boyfriend Posted: 27 Oct 2010 03:58 AM PDT Actress Halle Berry and her actor boyfriend Olivier Martinez have reportedly given each other keys to their respective apartments so that they don't have to spend any time apart. "These two are so (much) in love, they want to spend as much time together as possible. They hate being apart even for one night if they can help it," femalefirst.co.uk quoted a source as saying. "They want to be home together as neither of them particularly likes meeting in hotels," the source added. The couple, who have been dating since September, are currently living in Berry's Beverly Hills mansion, but the actress, who has a two-year-old daughter Nahla with ex-boyfriend Gabriel Aubry, is keen to spend more time in her lover's native France. "Since they both need to be in Hollywood for work, it made sense for Olivier to move in sooner rather than later. And they love the privacy of her place, although Halle says she can't wait to get to know Paris better. They are definitely not taking things slowly," said the source. |
Ajay Devgan wants to explore more Posted: 27 Oct 2010 03:53 AM PDT He has dabbled in almost all genres of films -- be it action, comedy or romance. But actor Ajay Devgn feels he still has a lot to explore in the world of cinema. "When you get new scripts, you read them and then realise that 'ok I have not done something like this, I would definitely do it'. So for me as an actor, there's lot to be explored yet," Ajay told IANS here Tuesday. "Moreover, when you work in new films, work with new directors, you learn something every day," he added. The actor was present with the entire cast of his new film "Golmaal 3" at PVR Cinemas in Ambience Mall, Gurgaon. He was accompanied by actors Kareena Kapoor, Shreyas Talpade, Tusshar Kapoor, Arshad Warsi, Kunal Khemu and filmmaker Rohit Shetty. Ajay is known to be a big time prankster on the sets. Asked what kind of pranks he played this time on his co-stars, Ajay replied: "I haven't done anything this time because everybody knew what can happen." But his co-star Kareena was quick to respond: "Ajay is lying!" |
Mariah Carey expecting baby boy Posted: 27 Oct 2010 03:49 AM PDT Pop singer Mariah Carey is reportedly expecting a baby boy. Although Carey and her husband Nick Cannon refuse to confirm the reports that they are going to be parents, a source close to the couple has revealed that she is expected to make an official announcement in the next couple of weeks when she begins promoting her new album "Merry Christmas II You". "She's having a boy, but the reason that Mariah didn't want to say anything is because she is 40, and she's superstitious," hollyscoop.com quoted an insider as saying. The insider added: "They haven't decided whether they'll raise the baby in New York or Los Angeles." |
Baywatch Star Pamela Anderson adopts stray dogs Posted: 27 Oct 2010 03:45 AM PDT Pamela Anderson has adopted two stray dogs from a shelter in New Orleans, Louisiana. The supermodel-actress extended a helping hand when animal rights group PETA asked her to help them fund a relocation programme for cats and dogs. These animals were abandoned by desperate owners, who had lost their livelihood following the Gulf Coast oil spill earlier this year, reports dailystar.co.uk. Anderson flew to the region and visited shelters. She left with two dogs - Gina Lollobrigida and Bardot - named after two yesteryears' actresses. PETA staff in Virginia agreed to provide shelter to 40 other stray pets following Anderson's humanitarian act. |
Aishwarya Rai is beauty with the brain: Sanjay Leela Bhansali Posted: 27 Oct 2010 03:09 AM PDT Filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali, who has made a third film with his muse Aishwarya Rai, says she is not just beautiful but has a very sharp mind too. He also believes that the kind of humiliation he has gone through in life is important for an artist. "With Aishwarya, it's so special. I feel blessed to have an actor who can understand me, who can interpret what I want to say without my saying too many words. If I don't like a shot, she knows exactly why I didn't like it. It's just two minds completely connected at that moment and understanding everything," Bhansali told IANS in an interview. He gave Aishwarya's career a huge boost when he presented her as Nandini in "Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam". Then with the success of "Devdas", where she played Parvati, the duo celebrated the magic of their creativity once again. Now with "Guzaarish", Aishwarya, who will be playing the role of a nurse called Sofia, will yet again be seen in a powerful role. "She is not only a beautiful girl, she has a beautiful mind too, a sharp mind and a thinking mind that questions and answers. She is not someone who would just come to the set and say 'okay, now what am I supposed to do besides looking beautiful?'. So that is what I really cherish in her," said the 47-year-old director. "Also, over the years, I feel through her exposure to world cinema as a jury member, going to Cannes, going to various other film festivals, meeting international actors and directors - all that has really made her an evolved person," he added. "Guzaarish", slated to release Nov 19, also has Hrithik Roshan essaying the role of a magician who becomes a paraplegic when a magic trick goes wrong. Bhansali has made films like "Khamoshi", about a deaf and mute couple, "Devdas", about a dejected, jilted lover, and "Black", about the struggles and travails of a blind, deaf and mute girl. With "Guzaarish", he will once again explore the life of a paraplegic. When asked the reasons for doing so, the filmmaker said he likes taking up subjects that are closer to life and not very talked about. "It's very interesting to take subjects like these, which are not very talked about. It just makes you aware about the beauty of life and what we have and how we should cherish what we have. In the process of going through all these characters that I create, I have learnt so much about living a good life, of becoming a better human being and of evolving as a person," he said. "I've seen life so much, gone through so much humiliation which is important as an artist to go through, I've seen happy times, I've seen difficult times, I've seen success, I've seen failure. "I've seen everything and beyond that many more things which one necessarily doesn't have to talk about. It's very important to celebrate it all because it's important to say that it's not just about entertaining cinema. It's not necessary that you have to follow a formula to be able to say something you want to through the medium of films and that's what I do," he added. After making films on so many varied subjects and mainly on a grand scale, which one did he find most challenging to make? "Every film, when I'm making it, is tough. Every subject is different and difficult. It has its own challenges and I always walk the line. I don't pick up a subject, which is necessarily very easy. It's so wonderful to walk that line because that's where the challenge comes from," said Bhansali. "Also each one so far has been very satisfying. 'Saawariya', even if it's not celebrated and people had not connected to it, it is one of the most important works that I have done and I feel it should have been acknowledged and got its praise because it was very rare and beautiful. "But 'Guzaarish' is as beautiful for me and so are all my other films," he added. |
Lindsay Lohan's dad to visit her in rehab Posted: 27 Oct 2010 03:00 AM PDT Troubled actress Lindsay Lohan is reportedly planning to allow her father Michael to visit her in rehab because she is sick of his repeated public requests to meet her. "It's gotten to the point where Lindsay told Dina, 'Mommy, maybe I should just let him see me because then he'll go away and he'll stop," femalefirst.co.uk quoted a source as saying. "Dina knows she needs to slowly build a truce because it's all got to stop. But they've given him so many chances." According to earlier reports, Michael was planning to get drunk so that he could check himself into the rehab clinic to meet with his daughter. Lindsay, currently undergoing treatment for drug abuse at the Betty Ford Clinic in California, was told by the court that she must stay in rehab until Jan 3. |
