Russian Sub Stakes Claim to North Pole Posted: 20 Oct 2010 10:13 AM PDT At least one country is hoping the global warming phenomenon will continue – Russia. A Russian Submarine planted a rust-proof titanium flag painted with the Russian tricolor onto the Arctic seabed at a depth of 4,261 meter (14,000'). Russia hopes that vast reserves of untapped oil and natural gas will become more accessible as the climate changes and the ice melts. Canada, Norway, Denmark and the United States are thinking, "Who are the Russians kidding?" International law allows these countries a 200 mile economic zone around the north of their coastline. Russia thinks the Arctic seabead is theirs because Siberia and the North Pole are linked by one continental shelf. If that's true, and you go deep enough, then the whole world is mine starting from my little post-card-sized piece of land in Sunnyvale. No? It would seem to me, however, if the Russians or anybody for that matter can get the gas and oil out from under the North Pole, well then, they can have it. What do you think? |

World’s Tallest Man, Bao Xishun, Becomes Father at 58 – Pix Posted: 20 Oct 2010 06:12 AM PDT The world’s tallest verifiable man, Bao Xishun, is a father. There is Leonid Stadnik – 8′ 5″ who is taller than Bao Xishun – 7′ 9″, but Leonid doesn’t want to lay down and get measured from ten different directions, so nobody is sure. These days, however, it is Bao’s turn to be in the news. He’s a dad. The baby, smaller than his foot, no doubt, and perhaps smaller than other body parts. (what are you thinking?) Parasshuram sent me these pix. I don’t know where he got them, or we would gladly give credit. I love this pic!!! I became a dad for the third time last year – little girl to go along with her older brothers, 26- and 22-years old! But, Bao’s smile beats all! |
Posted: 20 Oct 2010 02:59 AM PDT Neyveli Lignite Corporation (NLC) India, has been on an indefinite strike since the 20th of September, and Chief Minister M Karunanidhi will be speaking with the Prime Minister of India in context with this matter. It will be exactly one month and some 13000 workers from the company are not in agreement to continue working ahead. The sole reason, NCL has gone on an indefinite strike is because, the workers are demanding for a stable regularization in their services and a better pay for their services with the company. If the strike continues to go on the company would land into a huge financial problem, from which it would become impossible to come out. Chief Minister M Karunanidhi, will be seeking the help from Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in context to this issue. A solution needs to come up as soon as possible before matters get even worse. For the moment the strike has passed successfully and peacefully for a month, but the authorities need to react quickly on the matter. |

O’ Donnell and the First Amendment Posted: 19 Oct 2010 10:23 PM PDT In her debate with Democrat Chris Coons, the issue of the separation of Church and State came up. Coons and O’Donnell are running for Senator. She asked Coons, at Delaware’s Widener Law School, where the Constitution taught the doctrine of separation of Church and State. Coons proceeded to quote the First Amendment, with a slight error, he said “Government” rather than “Congress”. The debate showed that O’Donnell needed to review other aspects of the Constitution when asked if she would repeal the 14th and 17th Amendments. CNN reported “‘I’m sorry, I didn’t bring my Constitution with me. Fortunately, senators don’t have to memorize the Constitution. Can you remind me of [them]?’ O’Donnell said.” Here’s what the First Amendment says regarding religion: “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof;.” Read it carefully. Congress is not allowed to establish a religion. That’s why we don’t have a “Church of America” like a “Church of England”. Yet, it does not forbid religious people from involvement in affairs of state or to influence the making of laws. How can laws be made without some basis or world view for morality? Neutrality is a myth. The Constitution is to keep the government from interfering with the free exercise of religion, but what passes itself for “separation of Church and States” is the very opposite what the Founders intended. Often it is used to prohibit, “the free exercise thereof”. |

Reincarnation of Hindu God Vishnu – Lakshmi Tatma – 8 Limbs to be Reduced (PIX) Posted: 19 Oct 2010 10:09 PM PDT Lakshmi Tatma is thought by some to be the reincarnation of the Hindu god – Vishnu. What happened is that she was born with a 'parasitic twin' – a headless twin is joined to the little girl at the pelvis with its own spinal column and kidney. A team of 30 doctors/surgeons are hoping that after 40 hours, she will be just a little girl. The little girl was born in a poor village on a day devoted to celebrating the four-armed Hindu deity Vishnu. The little girl was discovered by a television documentary research team. Let's hope and pray, NOT to Vishnu, that the little girl's surgery goes well. See also - The Unlimits of Science? – Lakshmi Tatma – Parasitic Twin to be Removed
