Jessica Simpson engaged with Eric Johnson Posted: 22 Nov 2010 02:26 AM PST Singer Jessica Simpson celebrated her engagement with footballer Eric Johnson at a party with friends and family. The celebrations involved about 40 to 50 people, including a few football players. All of them gathered at the California home of Simpson's parents, Joe and Tina. Guests were served hamburger and veggie burger sliders, chicken skewers, mini pizzas, shrimp, and for dessert, mini cupcakes. "They were very happy. It was the first time they had seen a lot of their friends since the engagement. She was excited to see her girlfriends," usmagazine.com quoted a friend of Simpson as saying. The couple began dating in June, when Johnson was separated from his wife of five years, Keri. Simpson split from ex-husband Nick Lachey, 37, in 2005.

Chetan Bhagat says 'Films on my books increase my reach' Posted: 22 Nov 2010 02:12 AM PST Two of his books have been made into films, one of them the superhit "3 Idiots", while a producer is interested in his third book. Author Chetan Bhagat promises a fourth one next year and is happy that his work can be adapted to reach more people. While "Hello", starring Salman Khan, was based on his book "One Night @ the Call Centre", box-office hit "3 Idiots' was inspired by his book "Five Point Someone". Directed by Rajkumar Hirani, "3 Idiots" had Aamir Khan, R. Madhavan, Sharman Joshi and Kareena Kapoor in lead roles. "My stories are very Indian, very middle class, funny, simple; so I think Bollywood is looking for stories now...'3 Idiots' success has shown they can be adapted successfully, so that's why it's happening and it's good for me because I want to reach as many Indians as possible. But I write in English; if I write in Hindi the reach increases," Bhagat told IANS in an interview. Bollywood producer Sajid Nadiadwala has apparently shown interest in making a film on his third book "2 States: The Story of My Marriage". The book is all about a girl from Tamil Nadu and a Punjabi boy falling in love and doing everything possible to make their parents come around and accept the relationship. The investment banker-turned-author never expected that his name would be listed among TIME magazine's 100 most influential persons of the world this year. He attributes this recognition and fame to his connect with a large section of youth-just through his books. "It felt amazing because it was not something I expected. I think lots of Indians deserve it more. I guess they noticed that I have a big connect with the youth of the country, that I have done only through my books, so I think that's what really works," said Bhagat. Asked if he had started writing his next book, the author said: "There will be a new book next year." The 36-year-old doesn't rule out the possibility of writing a film script as well some time. "I might write a script. It depends on the offer. Considering it...but not certain about it," Bhagat said.

ShahRukh Khan, Hrithik Roshan bonded over 'Guzaarish' Posted: 22 Nov 2010 02:04 AM PST Shah Rukh Khan was so moved by Hrithik Roshan's performance as a paraplegic in "Guzaarish" that he yanked his younger colleague out of slumber and made him immediately drive down to his bungalow 'Mannat'. Tired and fighting off a viral attack, Hrithik still drove down to 'Mannat'. And he and King Khan discussed "Guzaarish" and Hrithik's performance until 2 a.m. "Shah Rukh had asked for a print of 'Guzaarish' because he's very fond of Hrithik. Also because Shah Rukh had played a mentally challenged character in 'My Name Is Khan', he was curious to see how Hrithik had approached the character of a physically disabled hero," said a source. Shah Rukh was watching the film with his family and friends and it was half-way through that he rang up Hrithik and asked him to come home immediately. The two are close friends and their wives are even closer. Said Hrithik: "In fact, Sussanne was already at 'Mannat'. When Shah Rukh wanted me to go over, I had no choice. He's always very generous." The source added: "What started as professional inquisitiveness turned into a complete involvement with the on-screen goings-on. Shah Rukh felt Hrithik in 'Guzaarish' out-excelled his own performance in 'My Name Is Khan'. Hrithik Roshan hospitalized due to allergic reaction Posted: 22 Nov 2010 01:53 AM PST Bollywood actor Hrithik Roshan was Sunday hospitalised following an allergic reaction, his spokesman said. The actor was admitted to the Kokilaben Hospital late afternoon and is currently under observation. "Hrithik was hospitalized for an allergic reaction to an antibiotic that he had. He is under observation and was to be discharged tonight. He is much better now and recuperating," said Hrithik's spokesperson. The actor was busy with the promotions of his recently released film "Guzaarish" and that's when he had the medicine and fell ill, the spokesperson said. "Doctors confirmed that I experienced allergic reaction to an antibiotic. My lungs just closed. Throat went into spasm, could not breathe," said the 36-year-old actor in a statement released by his spokesperson. "Lips became 10 times their size. I was rushed to the hospital on time. I am under observation and will be discharged late night. But all good. It's always good. "Was celebrating 'Guzaarish' at home, now celebrating from here (hospital). No difference," Hrithik added. It was earlier reported that Hrithik refrained from attending his Kolkata promotions, scheduled for earlier this week, for "Guzaarish" because he was suspecting suffering from malaria. However that was not confirmed.
