The captain of the Indian cricket team, MS Dhoni has joined hands with Vijay Mallya's United Breweries Group, for an endorsement valued at about Rs. 8 crore per year. Dhoni had signed a deal for three years with the UB group, making it the biggest endorsement deal for an Indian Sportsman. “UB plans to activate the deal just before the Cricket World Cup kicks off in February,” an official said. The deal brings Dhoni in level of the Bollywood superstars like Shahrukh Khan, but has just missed from Amir Khan who had signed 30 crore deal with Etisalat, a telecom Operator. According to the officials, Dhoni will be associated with McDowell's soda, however the deal includes a lot more other than endorsements. The Indian captain after leading the victory in the 2007 World Twenty20 championship, was rated by the Forbes Magazine as the highest paid player last year. Sources say that, last year Dhoni had earned about $10 million. |

After capturing a lot of footage at the launch function, the multilingual movie Super, starring Kannada actors Upendra and Nayantara, the film makers have gracefully concluded the shooting of movie. Sources say that, the movie has been shot in some of the exotic locations like London, Dubai and Bengaluru. With cameraman Ashok Kashyap, some of the shots of the movie are still pending. The film was directed by the actor cum director Upendra and was produced by Rockline Venkatesh. The crew of the movie had been London about 20 days ago to shoot the first half of the movie. Sources add that a along with some sequences of the movie a song has also been shot in London. Certain sequences have been shot in Dubai, while the second half of the movie was shot in Bengaluru. The pending shots of the movie will be complete in a time span of 10 to 12 days. Producer Venkatesh, who spent Rs. 25 lakhs just for the launch of the movie, has a lot of expectations from the movie. Sources also say that it is said to be one of the big budget Kannada films of the year 2010. |
BSEB 2010 results announced on Thursday Posted: 03 Dec 2010 12:52 AM PST
The results of the supplementary secondary examination 2010 were declared on Thursday by the Bihar School Examination Board. The BSEB chairman, AKP Yadav announced that the overall percentage of students who passed the examination is 61.5%. About 60.3% of girls and 62.6% of boys passed in the examination. “SSE results will be uploaded on the BSEB website within two days and provisional certificates, mark-sheets and other certificates will be sent to all schools within a week,” Yadav said. According to sources, about 79,785 students had appeared for the examination, which was held from 7th October to 11th October 2010. The examination was conducted at 106 centres within the state. The highest scorer was recorded in the Munger District with a percentage of 77.5%. And the second position was grabbed by Saran with a score of 68.4%. The chairman also announced that on the occasion of birth anniversary of Dr, Rajendra Prasad on Friday, 15 highest scoring students of the Bihar board examination will be felicitated including the toppers of the intermediate examinations 2010. |
Abdur Razzaq picks up hat-trick against Zimbabwe Posted: 02 Dec 2010 10:11 PM PST Abdur Razzaq became the second Bangladesh bowler ever to pick up a hat-trick in ODI cricket when he achieved three out of three in the second ODI against Zimbabwe at Dhaka. Watch the Abdur Razzaq hat-trick highlights here. In the process, Razzaq also picked up five wickets in the match and restricted the Zimbabwean side to 191 all out. Zimbabwe were going really well in the innings and were 189/6 with the last six overs to go but Razzaq picked up his hat-trick, spread across two different overs to get the Zimbabweans bowled out for 191. Bangladesh had lost the first match of the series to Zimbabwe in a thriller. Razzaq had picked up four wickets in that game as well to bring his tally in the series up to nine from two games. BrahMos new version successfully test fired at Chandipur Posted: 02 Dec 2010 12:01 PM PST A new version of the BrahMos supersonic cruise missile with a range of 290 km, was succesfully test fired. The test was conducted at the Integrated Test Range in Chandipur near the Orissa coast. The Director of the ITR SP Dash said, "Block III version of BrahMos with advanced guidance and upgraded software, incorporating high manoeuvres at multiple points and steep dive from high altitude was flight tested successfully from Launch Complex III of ITR,” A distinguished defence scientist and CEO and the Managing director of the BrahMos Aerospace also confirmed the success of the missile test. Sources say that the missile can travel 2.8 times the speed of sound and can also carry regular warheads up to 300 kgs. The Brahmos can be launched from various platforms like ship,submarine and aircraft and land based Mobile Autonomous Launchers. The missile is reportedly ready and operational in the Indian Army. The Indian Navy has also made preparations to install the first version of BrahMos missile system in its warships from 2005. |

Director Ashutosh Gowarikar himself is having doubts about the movie's success. The movie is about a revolution during the British rule, in Chittagong in 1930. Sources say that the movie is based on the book 'DO and DIE' written by Manini Chatterjee. The story showcases the successive attacks by the heroes, at the British to threaten them. Abhishek Bachchan and Deepika Padukone play the lead roles in the film. Director Ashutosh Gowarikar, though has doubts about the film's success has hopes from the audience to accept it. The movie has received a U/A certificate from the censor board. The movie is jointly produced by Ajay Bijli, Sanjeev Bijli and Sunita Gowarikar.
