BSNL To Unveil 3G Services in Jammu and Kashmir Posted: 18 Apr 2011 02:34 AM PDT State-Owned Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) announced that it will launch much awaited 3G Mobile and Data services across Jammu and Kashmir Telecom Circle by June 2011. Earlier in Jammu and Kashmir circle, BSNL has launched its 3G services in Jammu City on Trail basis and after some security reasons the services was put on hold. Riding on 3G, BSNL gives several options including High Speed Internet access with faster data downloading speed up to 3.6 Mbps, Video calls and also subscribers can enjoy Live Mobile TV & VoIP services on 3G Compatible mobile phone. GSM telcos adds 14.49 million new subscribers in March Posted: 15 Apr 2011 10:15 PM PDT Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI) reports that GSM mobile subscribers base increased by 14.49 million subscribers considering the total number of cellular users in the country to 569.55 million in the month of March. But at the end of February 2011, the GSM subscriber base stood at 555.06 million. The COAI data eliminates Reliance Communications and TTSL since it provides both GSM and CDMA services. Vodafone Essar, the highest among all the telecommunications added over 3.68 million new subscribers with its total user base to 134.56 million. Bharti Airtel, Telecom Giant added over 3.20 million new subscribers considering their base to 162.20 million. Bharti Airtel has a market share of 28.48% while Vodafone has 23.63% market share. Aditya Birla group firm Idea Cellular added 2.70 million new users and Aircel added over 1.34 million subscribers respectively. In addition, State-run telecom firms BSNL and MTNL added 1.35 million and 20,720 news subscribers taking their subscriber base to 86.45 million and 5.19 million. |
